Well it’s 14 degrees here in Texas and I’m dreaming of a warm summer day on Cuttyhunk, which got me thinking about new plugs. I had never been spent much time with the doc until I saw the light 2 summers ago in the surf (wow what a day). That got me thinking about gliders, which I don’t really fish.

I’m curious, how many of y’all fish them and fish them regularly with success? What kind of water do you find them most effective in? Also which plug makers do you like and are they readily available?

I have at least one of Alan’s gliders in my bag at all times. They just flat out catch. Scott Larson makes a nice one as well little different profile.

thanks Higgie. Which Alan's do you carry? i noticed he makes a few - the dart, mini dart, combat, etc.

I have couple of Scott’s gliders, swim well. No takers yet, but I’m sure that will change next season.

I never turned any as they are very labor intensive to make correctly. I find that a Zara Spook will work just as well and I can turn them much quicker.

I like the Loki gliders for most applications. I have had a few decent nights with a Surf Asylum as well. Also have a JLH glider that works well and at a heavier weight, seems to get down in the water column.

Not all too hard to make Paul, once you get used to them. I’ve made a few dozen batches of them. Caught fish too.

I usually carry a mini dart and a combat. Two different profiles with different actions. I’m gonna give building them a try this winter once I get the shop set up and cleaned
