Got you beat by three years, don’t recall when the site started, but like a lot of things these days; the good old days seemed better.

IIRC, it was in February of 2000. I think this isn't my original account, as it has my join date as October 2000, and I'm almost positive I was here at the start.

I remember Notaro, SSx, and the other kiddie corps dudes who kept us entertained, and of course, Voldemort.

Edit* First post was 3/23/2000, and my original account was MikeP aka "DJ".

I joined up under another account name at fishing show with my dad at cordage park in Plymouth about a year prior. Internet was brand new revolutionary. Forgot it so opened a new one "redlite ". Feels like yesterday from that date.

Yes....a lot more positivity and good discussions. Less insults and less vile language is a good start towards civility. Politics is a huge waste of time.

Good memory of my first MSBA show was at Cordage Park. Went there because I read about it on this site. I was just getting back among the living after a bad divorce during which I had spent a lot of soul searching hours fishing by myself off a particular pile of rocks... First meeting John and Bruce. Vividly remember observing the antics of Manzi and Habs... I used this site to steepen the learning curve and it also became a family back then, when I was looking for something more I could focus on, as AA alone wasn't doing it for me. That sense of friends and family and what it did for me is why I have stayed around and fought to get this back to a semblance of that...

Have to ask John if enough time has gone by to mention the name that should not be mentioned? ;)

There are a few. I remember early on a long debate I had with #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&, who was insistent that eels were required to be a striper fisherman.
