Paul's wife Jeanne is in the hospital with what sounds to be a bit serious of an issue. Just got the message and that is about all I know so far.

Please keep the both in your prayers.

She was released this AM and is home resting. Lot of residuals from the extreme dehydration. Fluid around the heart is dissapating as she is on heart meds.

Big thing is the pain in her legs is diminishing and she can walk. She is much more lucid and with it.
She will ultimately be OK but it will be a marathon not a sprint.

Thanks for the support and offers of help. You guys are the best.

Most recent and reliable report I have is it was not a stroke, but rather very low electrolytes. A different hospital seems to have a better grasp of what her needs are.... So I took that as a positive development.

Absolutely correct Ross. Thanks. I think we may be out of the woods.
Docs told me that her sodium and potassium livels were so low they were shocked that she was still conscious.

Landmark Hospital misdiagnosed her condition TWICE. They actually said she had an heart issue which, as it turns out, is totally incorrect.

One more on the way too long lists of misdiagnoses I am all to familiar with. Not for nothing, but sometimes I think over a certain perceived age / state of health and just maybe they don't seem to care or put in the time needed.

My wife has been a RN in the emergency room of our local hospital for over 40 years. In that time I have met many doctors. For some reason because they have the letters MD behind their name we the public tend to believe that they are infallible I assure you they are not! They pass boards to become an MD and if they have a good memory they can pass with the correct answers. This however does not guarantee that their ability to use diagnostic science is up to par! Some are great, some are good, some just plain suck! As is the case with many other professions! Believe your own intuition.

Not to make light of Jeanne‘s experience ….

Early 70’s tending bar, chick comes in with a small dog, sets him on a stool, I figure I’ll be nice to the dog and make points with the chick,, leans over to pat it the fuc er nips my nose a couple time b 4 I could pull away… blood everywhere.. off to the CC hospital,,, doc checks me out, nurse come in a little later and sends me down to x ray for a chest x ray….. of course I was three sheets to the wind and was having a great time there…. LOL

Small improvemnt today, specifically this afternoon. Looks like a week in the hospital and then rehab facility or visiting nurses and PT.
We are praying there is no permanent brain impairment. She was more lucid this afternoon but quite far from when she was normal.

Having been there, although probably not as severely, the symptoms resemble a mild stroke or TIA. Loss of balance particularly.

Another common symptom is arrhythmia which may be why there was a cardiac event misdiagnosis.

I have too many missed conclusions in my family

not ggoing there .

But to this day ..I still have trouble trying to understand how Denis made it as far as he did .

that was the only place denis went ......... His wife worked there until after she retired .....then they hired her back as a consultant for big money

Denis final one was when his daughter [kinda made him go to mass general
His daughter is a highly paid surgeon ,

He wasn,t there long .but came home to Hospice .. the day he got home he called me an told me I better get to this house .........two days later he was gone ><><

My wife would have NEVER lasted 7 years [don,t know if the was good or bad] but she fought for herself .....I was at some of her consulation s with THE doctors ........... damn I though I caught hell >< the rest I,ll keep inside ., when in doubt . do something

She in a friggin' yo-yo right now. One minute almost normal, next crashing.

They did finaly figure out what caused all of this. She has contracted an extremely rare varient of Lyme disease. It's so rare they don't exactly know how to treat it. She was bit by a tick in June and this varient slowly ate away at her sodium and other electrolytes.

Biggest problem now is her mind. She is experencing hallucinations about 50% of the time.

Update on Jeanne!
God was listening folks. She was negative on the Endoscopy yesterday.
The great medical staff at Our Lady of Fatima succeeded in raising her sodium level to 127 and she is finally totally coherent. Her brain is still recovering but she is about 80-85% lucid.
I am meeting with PT this morning and they will eval whether she goes to a rehab facility or home with in-home nursing care.
Additionaly she will need to restrict her fluid intake, take sodium tables and eat a high protein diet for the rest of her life. She will never have a normal sodium level of 135 as there is damage to her pituitary gland, kidneys and liver.
I will keep everyone posted as to what happens.
I am overwhelmed by the love, prayers and support Jeanne and I have received from our many, many friends.
I have always believed that prayer is a powerful medium and this past 10 days certainly proves it.

Dear Lord, we pray that You be near Jeanne in her time of weakness and pain; sustain her by your grace, that her strength and courage, not falter...and that You heal her according to Your will -

I too believe there is power in prayer - both for those offering it as well as those receiving it. However, we can't assume that every prayer delivers the answer we're searching for...we need to put our trust in our God, that however things end here on earth, whether we understand it or not, is how it needs to be,.... Lest not forget, Every day is a blessing,... Praying she's home sooner than expected!!
