Anyone go to the CCA meeting in Norwalk? Bob Popovics was there, some fly shop guys and most importantly, me!. I was the guy in the dark green pants, long sleeve blue top, and the Rage Against the Machine hat with a big red Zapatista star on the front.

Frankly, I wasn't too impressed. They had some stuff on raffles. Bazooka case, some tins, some flies and some fly tying stuff. Watched a few hours worth of Bob Popovic's movies about bluefish, weakfish and striper blitzes. Most of the stuff was from NJ, some of it was from RI, and then there was some Tarpon stuff from Florida. The only thing I found really interesting was Bob did some underwater shots of baitfish trying to show you what a fish sees. And on certain baitfish, it's more important to tie exactly to what they key in on rather than the image as a whole.

Then one of the tyers for Fairfield Fly shop was doing Pop-Flyes demonstrations.

Oh yeah. I think an SOL regular was there, "PaulS". If it's the guy I was thinking about, I shook hands with him. Saw a movie of Gene Quigley's grass shrimp keeping. And I saw a picture of EdJ with a 12lb Weakfish. He is one big fella, Ed and the weakie.

So overall it wasn't much to help me. Only what to look for when I tie teasers. I guess if fly fishing is your sort of thing it was cool. There were some funny bits. 3 guys fishing 7 rods during a bluefish blitz. Then there was a 7 year old with his rod over his shoulder dragging what looked like a 5lb blue down the beach. And then there was a first time flyguy hooking an albacore and watching his direct drive reelhand go around on the first run.

Here's a question. Bob went over a fly that I have seen in Fairfield Fly Shop but I have never used. It looks like a silicon deal and it had a diving lip. Would you ever use a lure like this as a teaser? The one he was fishing with was like 6 inches, but if I made a 3 inch one, you think it would make a cool teaser?
