Not the news I wanted to see first thing today. A tremendous loss for all who knew her. I will always remember my " by chance" meeting on a dark night at Wasque. Godspeed sweet lady.

She was, in fact, one in a million. Part of the true "Old Guard".

Not many of us left.

Godspeed, Janet.

Had the pleasure to meet her a few times. She lived.

It's amazing that with all of the advances in medical science, nearly 100 years after Lou Gehrig put it on the map, ALS is still an irreversible death sentence.

Janet battled it bravely, never losing her zest for life. RIP.

I did not hear about Janet until a text from Mr. Sandman a couple days ago. She was an amazing lady. Before I even knew who she was I noticed her regularly at the weigh station. Then, got to know her and started to realize what an incredible person she was. Sadly, I never had the chance to fish the surf with her but by all accounts she was a legend in her own ways. An artist, a humanitarian, a friend to many, endlessly generous with her time and skills. She made the false albacore (any many others) on my plaque and took the photo of me with my fish on the MV Derby website. She was a fixture at the derby and will be dearly missed. Rest in peach Janet and thank you for all you did for fishing for so many.
