View Full Version : Cod Teasers...
fishweewee 09-24-2003, 09:17 PM Was thinking of tying up a few teasers for cod jig rigs.
Nuttin' special ... something like a 7/0 O'Shaugnessy hook dressed with long bucktail and some krystal flash.
Some colors I'm contemplating are white, yellow, olive, purple.
Any thoughts on colors and patterns?
Thanks.

macojoe 09-24-2003, 11:07 PM I use red and green squid teasers and they work great for me.
I use what ever I need for a jig 12 oz to 20 oz,
I have this on a penn 113 eltric reel with 80 # spider.
The rig is made with 80 to 100 # mono. I have two teasers and a Jig.
This is a heavy duty set up for commercial. I have even caught some nice Blue Shrks on this set up!! I caught a Maco on this also. That is how I got the MacoJoe name, It was a great day.
Good luck
likwid 09-25-2003, 12:14 AM 20oz? thats it?

BasicPatrick 09-25-2003, 02:26 AM Bucktail Teasers....Pink, Pink & ,more Pink
In the four years I mated on a certain fleet in gloucester, I learned thatt the most productive olor teaser for groundfish is Pink
BigBo 09-25-2003, 05:17 AM I'm with Patrick. Pink works best for me in either bucktails or rubber squid and or shrimp tails. Two teasers and a jig.:D
mikecc 09-25-2003, 05:27 AM Mann's 4" Stingray Grubs white with pink tail
Christian 09-25-2003, 05:33 AM i always like having some blue over whites around too. purple is my favorite though.:)
capesams 09-25-2003, 05:39 AM I'm with mike,,,white grub, pimk/red tail.
fishsmith 09-25-2003, 06:45 AM I like white, but I've used every color rubber there is. Once you get your first keeper, gut it, if there are those sponge/grub looking things in its belly throw that on hook they work great.
Remember these are cod, they're like blonds but hungry too.
RIROCKHOUND 09-25-2003, 08:00 AM Orange or Pink Redgills or Edystones....

Gloucester2 09-25-2003, 08:36 AM Blue.
And the white/pink flap tail grubs MikeCC said.
But why bother? I got several dozen marinating in herring oil :D
fishweewee 09-25-2003, 08:38 AM That's cheating. :p
Gloucester2 09-25-2003, 08:41 AM I said herring to drive Bassmaster nuts
Notaro 09-25-2003, 09:40 AM mario squid with a offset 4/0 shank hook, crippled herring with a surgerical tube tail and some flashing hair, 8 in. tube worm, nylon hair bucktail, shrimp teaser, squid skirts, and redgill. those are stuffs i found from the saltwater sportsman. and lampo rig for baits.
Canalratt1 09-25-2003, 08:09 PM I have used everything for teasers pink and white grubs are everybody;s favorite. Depends on the bait around I killed them on sluggos in grey and black when they are on sandeels, on bait rigs a little bucktail on the hook works good to.
bud8fan 09-25-2003, 08:48 PM Purple or wine colored B2 Squids have worked well for a few guys I know.
Also take a few of your 5/0 siwash hooks and tie them up with some purple bucktail and some holographic crystal flash and you got some nice teasers.
Christian 09-26-2003, 05:56 AM o ya, im lovin the b2 squids too. :)
