Finally shook the shore Bone skunk (a lifetime skunk is hard to shake too). Might be a year with large and small Bones for the duration of the Derby. Got the "you crazy" looks when I said that during week two by a couple of experienced anglers, but here we are.
Dropped a good bluefish that would have gotten my triple crown and pushed The Shack Nasties way up the board. Still need one for this years triple.
Been the year of the shark. Seen a whole bunch of browns and pics and recounts of a "Sand Tiger" that went over 400. A real shark with real teeth. Not wading that beach no more.
Home for a few then fish the last week hard for that blue and maybe an upgrade or two. Actually thinking of fishing in the dark before the new moon for them that are not part of the competition.
Been a very different year mostly due to the weather. Been blowing NE for ever and a bit wet to go with it. You get a calm sunny day and it feels like you are on a different planet.
Still waiting on the big run of big blues out on the beaches. Been an annual event for three years now. Hope is next week and not while I am in Connecticut. Or at least lasts until Monday!
