so

Gee, this is going to be a long winter - where's OxyDave when you need him

Shouldn't this be on the longest thread?

you guys have a good thing going here...don't waste it on stipud "winter" tricks! Anybody read "eastern Tides"?

BM - you're out of my league. I have enough on my hands with my 2 year old ;)

JPL - Haven't read that yet. I did recently read Surfcaster's Quest which I liked, other than the mildly condecending attitute to anyone other than a pure plug fisherman. And my favorite was Bob Post's "Reading the Water". Maybe not as elegant as SQ but it was nice as it went into people that I've met on MV and dug into that mystical Island - great read if you can find it...

Looking forward to two that are in the works, DZ & TC

    :btu:

Thanks John, I'm just starting "Tides" but the "mildly condescending" gives way to "endearing" just like knowing you "New England" types!! ha!!

No really, I know what you're saying, he sounds like that but if you are able transcend the vernacular, he's great!!

but you yankees are all the same...aren't you?

I read a book ,I think it was in the early 80s I read it, it was about fishing on MV, It was a good book I cant remember the name of it. alot of sneeking around in it;)
any one help???
thanks

BM - that book is Reading the Water... It can be found used for $130-170 if you're lucky - great book. Covered/Interviewed alot of the big fishermen (and women) on the Vineyard...

JPL - It was a little condescending but it gets in deeper to the Surfman's subconcious than anything else I've read so far - far better than anything I could ever hope put to print...

"New England" types - ahh you're just jealous because the good fishing starts at Montauk and heads northeast :D

FWW: self imposed exile from that "other" site...does everyone know here that you condone the fact the administration is out to lunch, that we are basically 21st century imperialists??:laughs: :D

thats the book, Is there a place that would let You read it on line, its not about the fishing its about the way they thought.
Old school is How I was brought up and I relate to that book alot and well never mind.....
The passion for fish;)
Tell You a story John, when I lived in falmouth, I use to do the live well thing, Very few of us doing it But the sneeking around and fishing the decodeing after meeting at trunk ( that was the spot to BS) Well You could tell who was fishing By the water marks You would leave driving around;)
I drove By My close friend for 7 years maybe with large bass hidden;)LOL then We yapped one night and took Him to the rock.
He is a good friend of Ted K... ask ted some of the stuff We pulled;)

Awww c'mon JPL...it couldn't be that bad over there. A break isn't such a bad thing either.

Get any time to squeeze in a little fishin this season?

:D
