MrsSFrances 03-24-2004 06:39 PM

or what chris just posted:D *goes back to my corner now*

ChrisH 03-24-2004 06:50 PM

MrsSFrances I like your work better :btu: . I did that quickly in Illustrator, PhotoShop will work as well, I just prefer to work on line drawings in Illustrator.

MrsSFrances 03-24-2004 08:23 PM

lol.... what did you do that in? if you dont mind me askin? looks like you did part of it in illustrator....

i do all my line work in illustrator also.....the pen tool is almighty:laughs:

i have seen your work too, i am guessing that is your portfolio on your site

 nice stuff you got there:D

MrsSFrances 03-24-2004 08:25 PM

i prefer to work in illustrator, but if i want to give some nice effects i take it to photoshop then, i think i answered my own question I am thinking you did the whole thing in illustrator....

i know most of illustrator, did you use the pen tool for the outline or something else?

ChrisH 03-24-2004 09:04 PM

MrsSFrances, I first brought it into PhotoShop, converted to grayscale, a little blur, a little unsharpen mask, adjusted curves and contrast, saved as a .tiff. Then I used Adobe Streamline to convert it to a vector image .eps then did the rest in Illustrator.

Thanks for the comments on our site...unfortunatly it is in desperate need of an update, most of those projects are old.. the plumbers house is the one with the leaky pipes:rolleyes: The updates are on my to-do list everyday, but I never make it:smash:

Chris

ChrisH 03-24-2004 09:09 PM

I can't understand why I am still at work...this is why I am waaay behind:smash:

MrsSFrances 03-24-2004 09:23 PM

thank you for the bit of info you shared with me i appreciate it very much.....i dont have adobe streamline:(

i have to get moving on a magazine layout....ugh....shoot me...:p

bloocrab 03-25-2004 10:29 AM

  ...WOW!!........you two are light-years ahead of me. I'm loving ALL your replys. I have "Photo-draw 2000" but I can't find any option to smoothen out the lines drawn with the tablet or mouse, nor can I find anything in there to transfer my "pencil'd" stuff into pixie dust. I also have Photoshop Elements 1.0, and I can't seem to find anything in there either. :(

I'm guessing I should go out and buy .....???....

photoshop & illustrator....

go to adobe.com download the free trial before you buy them to see if you like them...there are many other softwares too....like coral paint and others....i have never worked with anything else but those two at the top....

bloocrab 03-25-2004 11:01 AM

I tried to download that "trial" thing last night.......I remeber you saying that somewhere. :( According to my PC...:smash:..and the fact that I have dial-up, it was going to take up to 6 hours ????....I started it, and was taking forever....so I cancelled the load. Maybe I can find someone to ummm....:faga:....- - - - me one.

It seems like I could step it up a notch with those 2 softies :)

....again, I have to say....you and Chris do some super stuff. Loved that beak Monique. It doesn't seem like it would take long either...once the picture is drawn anyways.

Thanks again for your time and patience.

Bloo-

ENJOY!

bloocrab 04-05-2004 09:26 AM

:)...ok, I need to know something. I am trying to use the "trace" feature to trace a pencil-drawn sketch. Problem: It's tracing too thick, sometimes just filling areas in black....I know I have a LOT of reading to do, but if you two could share some small short-cuts, it would be mucho appreciatedo ...

Also, after I've toyed with it in Illustrator, how do I convert it back to a jpeg or bitmap file? If the answers are too lengthy, just tell me to do some reading, no harm done-

thanx -
Bloo

MrsSFrances 04-05-2004 09:54 AM

try this link...it will give you all the info for photoshop tracing....click on the tutorials link for photoshop 7

http://www.apsylus.com

when you click on the tutorial link then click on preparing line art in photoshop 7;)

I would prepare all your line art in photoshop then you can save it as a jpeg or bitmap in there....

when you take a sketch into illustrator you have to create a new layer to keep the original image..that way you do not mess it up...here i have attached an example...this is in illustrator....make sure to lock the layer that the picture is in too;)
