TheSpecialist 03-03-2002 06:23 PM

WHat do you guys think about the different braids, co-polymer lines etc?

bloocrab 03-03-2002 06:26 PM

..I havent' done much reading up on them.....I'll be in a tackle shop this week, looking for line.....I need some Braid for the weekend Cod. So I may check that out too......

...did you purchase some, or thinking about it???....

TheSpecialist 03-03-2002 06:33 PM

Thinking about it. I have some 30lb Whiplash for my baitrunners when I jig with them in the canal. I wanted to try some on a lighter tackle rod for some schoolies.

TheSpecialist 03-03-2002 06:34 PM

I was thinking Spiderwire saltwater fusion. The 30lb is a 10lb mono diameter. I could get a bout 200 yds on this reel I have.

TheSpecialist 03-03-2002 06:37 PM

I was also thinking of trying the Yo-Zuri Hybrid. It's flourocarbon and nylon mix. It's supposed to be very sensitve as well.

TheSpecialist 03-03-2002 06:38 PM

Boy I love having ADSL.

Goose 03-03-2002 06:41 PM

Yes, I've heard good thing about that Yo-zuri. Gonna put 12 on a 6500

TheSpecialist 03-03-2002 06:44 PM

I think I will give it a try also.

bloocrab 03-03-2002 06:57 PM

I tried that SpiderWire....and I don't know.....but I felt it was a bit "wirey"...

...I had it on a small reel, maybe the test was too strong...I can't rememer now....My nephew kind of "inherited" that rod...took him scuppin ... and he loved it!!!....I kept telling him he was using a "Lucky" rod......

...well, I'm sure you can figure out the rest.....How do you say NO, to a 6 year old???....:D

bloocrab 03-03-2002 07:07 PM

SpiderWire is a "copolymer" line???......:smash:

..Gee, I feel stupik!....I'm gonna have to start reading the fine print....

...I'm always in rush!!!.....ya know.....tic toc.....tic toc.....:D

TheSpecialist 03-03-2002 07:47 PM

Bloo no need to rush unfortunately we have plenty of time.

Canalratt1 03-03-2002 08:15 PM

Spider wire is a braid you may be thinking about Fusion. Bloo you have all the teasers you need and go with a braided line. My cod rod is a heavy action 7' Penn Slammer with a 4/0 senater and 50# braid. I think you will need at least 20 ozs. on your jigs unless the water is shallower than 150' Mono has to much stretch for jigging but fine for bait fishing.

wrong Bloo.. the water there comes right at You and its 15 feet straight down. the Bass come over the top like logs.
It was just about slack. no pics o fish to busy bailing..
I guide there and have to keep it quiet.

Jenn 03-03-2002 09:53 PM

 tell me it only LOOKS like that reel is in the sand??!!!

"tsk" "tsk"!
