Yes,it's my God-given and natural right to defend my family and self.Who else will do it?When danger is seconds away the police are only minutes away.I'm a Cherokee my Ancestors enjoyed the "social engineering".If the day comes please volunteer to collect the 300 million guns.

Yes it is a god given right...the constitution was written to protect that right, so the government does not try to take it away.

The guys that blow stuff up also believe in god. There are many gods. I guess all gods believe in guns, even thought when they were supposedly alive there were no guns. Makes sense to me.

Having a Gun would not have prevented the incident in Boston today. I hope they catch the SOB.

The "God-given right" thing,..... I've always thought to be a misunderstanding of the Declaration of Independence due to the "unalienable rights" mention from our "Creator".

My little sister works for BAA and was right near this mess when it happened.
She had been sitting in the bleachers directly above one of the un-detonated devices that was found (it was found 30min after she moved). Watching the media coverage sure feels different when you have a personal connection.

So scary.

I think it happened when someone said to take away the guns - because that would of prevented this.

In the aftermath of this absolutley horrific act, its a positive to see the way the city is coming together. The city officials, law/fire, residents, all coming together and trying to help anyone that needs it. Really shows a sense of what our community is about. During Katrina, most civil rights were stripped away. Illegal state-sanctioned confiscation of weapons took place and then the only people left with their weapons (law enforcement) were also the ones killing innocent people on bridges and in their homes.

hey now, seems to me a lot more violence and bloodshed is happening in your neck of the woods lately.

I was home working on my boat... fiberglassing the foredeck, enjoying the day and the red sox victory when the news came accross sports radio...having run that particular marathon 5 times ... I was thinking what can I do to help those that were experiencing such joy one minute and such horror the next...my only thought was to give blood.. something I do regualry anyway... I encorage others that want to help in some small way to do the same.... the blood you donate just might save a life...

Red Cross is taking donations, there's a huge network on reddit and twitter of people offering rides/airline miles to folks to get home, etc. etc.

A couple local joints are donating proceeds to Red Cross.

Agreed. Politics and rhetoric should be set aside for at least 48 hours post incident. All this bull#^&#^&#^&#^& gun drama accomplishes nothing but creating more hard feelings.

LW - wouldnt most people have tickets to get home already? How did this tradgey affect travel? I didnt think this was that widespread of an event where we had need for supplies (other than blood)? Im not being an ass, just dont understand from a logistics standoint. This wasnt an earthquake or a tornado. What supplies are needed>

Folks who lost their stuff/ended up in the hospital and missed their flight/etc. etc.

Airlines are waiving reschedule fees thankfully so hopefully those that got stuck/missed flights for one reason or another are getting hooked up.
