John,
That's a great picture. Would be better if every member of this site could get together for a group photo behind the cross. |
Yea all 1,805 of them!! I think we need a bigger beach!!
|
There use to be a cross like that behind the church on BI, between Old Harbor Point and the lighthouse
|
Sandman,
You're close.... the was a cross in that location that said "God Bless - Go Fish". This photo was from another location - can you guess where? DZ |
Yeah...thats right "God bless-go fish"..I use to fish that area a lot in the late fall. I remember talking with the minster one day about that sign. He didn't seem to mind fisherman parking on church property late at night to fish...he was kewl.
I know I saw that sign before as well ...I just cant remember where. I remember repeating it out loud to my brother who was with me at the time (although I did not recall seeing those plugs there!)...after fishing so many different spots for for nearly 40 years my mind is shot and I can't remember squat anymore... its all a big interconnected blur of dates, times and places. For some reason I am still thinking block island but it could be the mainland as well  Judging from the beach I would guess on the west side perhaps an area around dories or graces...again my mind is burt out.:uhoh: |
No cross behind the Church last time I was there but that's interesting about the minister....
Have not seen this sign before (but if I mentioned how many "spots" I've not visited during daylight I'd be shot by some of you) |
Sand,
Yes the island... wrong side though. Photo was taken three years back near Mansion Beach. Crosses were present for only that year. Needles hanging were placed by me. All having been retired after taking a forty or better. I needed photo shots for my book project "Snowstorm Blitz" felt this photo was perfect for my chapter on Needlefish History. Have another photo of the "God Bless - Go fish" cross with hanging retired redfins.... DZ |
DAMN! I was going to say Mansion but I was looking at the direction of the shadow on the rock and how close the water was and said..."This looks like masion beach sand but I can't see the mainland, and the water is seems too close to the dunes...and the shadow in that direction makes it look like it should be on the west side ...(assuming the sun rises in the east and sets in the west then the light would be comming from the south more or less, and drawing a pic of the island... for the water to be on that side it needs to be the west side? but the sand is too fine for the west side and there should be more rocks...it looks like masion sand. I think the "lense effect" got to me. I do remember my brother being there so it had to be 3 or more years ago...
can't win them all.. Nice pic though!! |
DZ,
Same bat time and same bat place as usuall for Thursday? Need a hand setting up before or anything, let me know and I'll swing by a little early... Bryan |
pic's
Hey John,
Jules had a few nice pictures with a certain slightly overweight guy holding a nice bonito with a deadly haning out of its mouth next to the rip at the Gut! Any guesses on who the fisherman was? |
It wasn't John cause he's not "slightly" overweight!! :)
