i took a closer look at that googoo eye blank i have, its definitly pine of some sort.

I got a big bucket o beaters down stairs, I take one an I'll hack it an sand it an toast it an cut it half an grindit down till dust an mix it with my dinner......then wait till mornin....if it floats its soft wood, but it sinks, it's gotta be hard wood.

what if it binds you up, does that mean the fiber content was too low, and would explain your general mood .

lead is tasty, i swallowed many splitshots when I was a youngster, it was convenient to hold them in your mouth while troutfishing.
