Wish I had been able to go to hear Alberto's lecture just for the refresher course, but the last coupla days have been brutal, I have a lot of stuff going out to clients simultaneously - no fun, it's been all hands on deck around here but unfortunately there's only four of 'em - me and Mrs. Crafty.

A coupla more days with my head down oughta clear the decks again - hey, I'm squandering valuable fishing time :fishslap:

Anyway, I did see Alberto's seminar at MassBass this past spring with EdB, saw BM and a lot of other familiar S-B faces in the crowd - ya know, Alberto really makes ya THINK about how you fish.

Like I've said before, the most important piece of fishing equipment you own really is between your ears - and Alberto is more than generous with all the information he provides both in terms of his equipment and his MO for finding - and landing - the big girls.

His seminar at MassBass was one of the very best I'd seen in recent memory - way to go Al :btu: - sounds like he embellished on it even more.

Pretty soon here I'm gonna put some of those nuggets to good use.....

Go ahead. I could see you were not gettin a lot of what he was sayin. he kept turning around. and blockin the view with the microphone.

My notes are a bit more disjointed. That post was stream of thought. As I said, I have thought of these things and tried to put them together. I do it for my cooking... whip whites before folding in cream, dont whip whites, vanilla first or second or third wet ingredient... fresh onion or dried,... olive, canola, peanut or corn oil? which brand? humidity? wind? temp? electic? gas? time on high? time on low? keep on heat when adding ingredients? shock with cold? let cool slow?

so many details that you need to keep track of.
If you are limited in when you do something the notebook becomes a way to reconnect the brain. If you are lucky enough to do the thing over and over again in a short period of time sometimes you can see the pattern. but a week, or month, or year later? hmm.. how did I do that agin?

Wow...sorry I missed it!...I was fishing.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your kind words and I am glad I had the opportunity to pass on some of my big fish insights! :)

I just wished I got there earlier but the CT traffic was horrific! Who would have thought you had to drive 20 mph through the entire CT state? :af:

I was really hoping to spend some time to chat with you guys before and after the seminar but we ran out of time.

JohnR – Hey buddy, we need to talk about that “thing” you showed me! It’s not nice to tease a grown man from New York ya know?;)

Notaro thanks for the email – You will be getting an email from me soon. :)

Moose Nuckle… So you are that big guy with the knife eh. :D
It’s a pleasure to meet ya! BTW: That knife was s.h.a.r.p.!... Which brand is that?

Fishweewee… Are ya getting ready for another marathon pal? ;)

Crafty Angler… Sorry that I missed ya - I was hoping to see ya at the seminar again. Actually, yesterday’s sunset – I caught a couple stripers along the Quincy Bay’s rocky shoreline and I thought of you and your photography! The black back with dark turquoise / black side lines was absolutely vibrant! Wished you were there because the scenery was absolutely gorgeous! :)

Any how… I am off to Montauk tonight. There are a few big and ugly things swimming those waters. Be prepared guys – As soon as this moon passes and with a little help of South wind – Those fish will be in your neck of the woods by mid next week. ;)

Fish hard, fish smart and be safe out there!

Sorry dude, only one I have :hihi: - but as usual, his work was fantastic!

C.A. - again, great seminar. Not only did it inspire me to alter my approach, remind me of things I used to do but fell out of good habit, it may have also provided an interesting "get out of jail" concept with the wife

Gonna send you an e-mail this week (I hope)...

thanks,

John

You would have liked it Bob - really liked it. We'll get together soon and I'll tell you the cliff notes version and see if jives with your two fifties :)

BEETLE 06-26-2004 06:17 AM

Bob,
Read the article in the july on the water by Alberto. Condensed version of what he covered at the meeting.
