I respect other people's political views and since this is mostly a fishing board I try to steer clear of talking about them, unless they are fishing related.

I'm not a political person and I supported the US to take care of business over there at first, but over the long haul my support has waned for this war so much I no longer can trust our President. I supported GW HEAVILY after Afghanistan and chasing the terrorists, I still do.

I am not convinced of a strong link between Iraq and Al Queda, strong enough to act on though at the time, I thru my lot in after Powell presented his - likely not known at the time - evidence against Sadamm. Even though it appears to be based on incorrect data, there were many reasons to go in there. Maybe not immediately, but reason enough to go in. Not immenent danger perhaps but it would have become so. I CLEARLY believe that this administration repeatedly fumbled the football on Iraq. They found a tarbaby and now we are stuck. I believe there is no easy "pull out" now because we will be more screwed up long term - either way we, as a country, can be greatly screwed on this. Hopefully, within 20 years, some semblance of true democracy and freedom will have taken root in Iraq and spread out from there, but it ain't happening tomorrow and probably not Jan 31. God I pray it does though.

America, before it became a super power had an origional strength that is now under utilized that being its soil quality and climate with ample rain. Right now we can easily produce our own source of fuel internally in the form of vegetable oils from many plant sources one of which is hemp....(non-drug variety)which has been banned during our whole lifetime thus far. Were we to do that and gradually lessen our dependance on imported oil the price would go so low that we'd all be laughing.

I think that the origional intent of this thread was to illustrate that President Bush like his father enjoys fishing which is a good thing.:cool:
