Anybody notice the high bidder on that ebay plug (as of Friday, 11am). That ID looks familiar, I think I've seen it around here.

HABS NEW APOXY FINISH

Don't think "The King" uses Apoxy to finsh and he certainly uses VMCs with split rings

Tattoo 08-06-2004 11:17 AM

I'll bet a paycheck that it's a Habs. Someone replaced the hooks.

I've turned thousands, know the shape anywhere....

I still cant figure out why you guys can't find any Habs needles, on any given day I know where I can find at least 1000 or so....:smash:

KLMulder 08-06-2004 11:55 AM

Could be or couldn't be hard to tell . Maybe a Imposter KNOCK OFF ARTIST..................

Nebe 08-06-2004 12:21 PM

At leasat he's not a boat fishing yankee fan....... we should at least give Mulder for being a shore fisherman.. or not.:D

piemma 08-06-2004 12:47 PM

This is hysterical. I remember when John would give us plugs to test. Now they are selling them on Ebay.
Hey, Hab, don't sell anymore needlefish. Auction them off to the highest bidder. Anyone want to bid on a a 1oz purple Hab circa 1995?

KLMulder 08-06-2004 12:48 PM

Thanks Eben. I think? Been on the boat about 4 times this year, when I can steal it from my ole man, it is after all his boat. But to be honest with ya I prefer the rocks of Newport to a boat any day.

Maybe this will help my cause.

GO RED SOX!!!

Now give me your plugs!!!:D

spence 08-06-2004 12:50 PM

Is there anyone out there interested in a needle exchange program?... :laughs:

piemma 08-06-2004 01:21 PM

Habs plugs catch fish. His first plugs were a different story but from early 1998 hs needlefish came into their own. I believe it's the way he loads them, the eye placement and the finish. In that order... If the needlefish isn't loaded right it won't work right. I know, I know, needlefish don't have any action but if you fish them correctly you can give them action. I have been trying side to side sweeps lately and it has been effective in rough water. Kinda like walking the dog with a Zara Spook..

Joe 08-06-2004 01:24 PM

Maybe someone will start a knock-off company?

You'd see guys on jetties peddling knock-offs like they do with Rolex watches.
If you look close though, then you'd see the tell tale signs: smudged paint, 1X strong, open-eye Mustad trebles, :yak5:

And then the dead giveaway - you'd see that they spelled "Habs" with two b's - "Habbs" :hs:

Bliz 08-06-2004 01:44 PM

Nope, there's only one HABS Needlefish...

So glad to see John's doing well!

Tattoo 08-06-2004 02:38 PM

I need to start a black market beer fund. :D

KLMulder 08-06-2004 02:52 PM

ReelChitty 08-06-2004 03:06 PM

There is someone making needles that do look very much like Habs. A Lawng Eyeland tackle store is carrying them. He also makes poppers and metal lips. I believe the guy is from Vermont. I don't recall if they had eyes but they did have the same length and weight.

chris L 08-07-2004 06:10 AM

having bernzy the bidder . I refrained !

KLMulder 08-07-2004 09:04 AM

OK a few day's have passed and the pain has diminished a little. I only cried for 3 hours last night. So far today I have only broke down one time. This may take a long time to get over.
