you have a beetlecat??? what a great boat. I looked at buying a crosby about 10 years ago but ended up passing on it.

beachwalker 04-03-2005 09:53 PM

believe it or not it is a glass one.

so happy i don't have to deal with a wooden boat...

thing is pretty sweet. so friggin simple and easy to sail....

Nebe 04-03-2005 10:08 PM

Showoff :bshake: gotcha:laughs:

wooden boats are a nightmare i agree. I have a wooden sea kayak and that is a beyotch to keep shipshape......

this concludes my internet broadcast for the night :buds:

I have been sailing a long time and my first ever experience trolling was for bluefish using a handline off a snark when I was thirteen. Good fun.

Now I am more inclined to sail hardwater and ever since I started I have been spoiled by its speed and I don't sail in the summer nearly as much.

Now this is a sailboat-

Personally - Im a long time sailor - but these guys may agree with you

Watch this series of pics

jeffsod 04-05-2005 10:30 AM

Whoops!

What were those guys thinking?

I know that spot. Right underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. They tried to cut the corner during a large swell. Bad idea.

zacs 04-05-2005 12:25 PM

wow. looks to me like they were trying to be daredevils. I have sailed there and nobody would make that mistake unless brain damaged.

5 Mahi Mahi and 2 Tuna while running a boat from Annapolis to St John this past December, and it didn't even cost any fuel. :hihi:

DEFENDING STATE CHAMPION

Xavier High School in CT is where i go and is the team i'm on. lots of hot girls on other teams, too. sailing is a helluva workout in heavy winds, too. it's also pricey.

zacs 04-06-2005 02:57 PM

RFG, you should go to URI. We could use you, and imagine the fall fishing!

As RIJimmy can tell you, housing at URI is the best. Live right in South County, ON THE BEACH. My last house while at URI was in Jerusalem, 100 yards from the west wall. The year before that I lived ON salt (point judith) pond. WITH A DOCK! FOR $400 a month! Usually if you play your cards right you can have the house through may. Can you say WORM HATCH!

I used to surf Fort Point a dozen or so times a year. Never saw anything that stupid there, just people getting sucked out on the outgoing tide or getting hammered into the rocks after wiping out. One of my friends did see a jumper. :skulz:

cool

I went to Amity High School in Woodbridge. We had a sailing team for a few years. won the nationals in 1976. first public high school to do so. it was pretty fun. YCYC was our home spot. Used to practice with yalies like Dave Perry, John Mckee, Peter isler, etc. It was pretty good practice....

good luck this season. when are the new englands ?

rhodyflyguy 04-06-2005 08:07 PM

we went to nationals this past fall, we did crappy, we only sent 2 kids, lol. we're really good at team racing, though. all we need are some bigger guys, as we've got 3 over 150. our coach is paul haye, was on the olympic team a few years back, than broke his leg and didn't sail in them. we sail @ pettapaug (sp?) yacht club in essex on 420's. I love JY's though, especially seeing i'm a crew and the pulleys for the jib line make it easy on me, with little resistance. suprisingly, we're incredibly mellow, esp. for the only team in our school to win a state campionship this millenium.

Nebe 04-06-2005 09:45 PM

Rogers highschool sailing team. i think we got 4th in the nationals in 92. I used to love racing at the coastguard acadamy in those FJ's... A bit tippy when your used to 420's, but i loved them as they handled like a laser, and lasers were my schtick.. Tabor always kicked our ass, and if i remember right, we smoked Xavier several times :smokin:

JohnR 04-07-2005 09:47 AM

Rogers is/was looking for a Sailing Coach :hihi:

beachwalker 04-07-2005 07:49 PM

should be able to find someone.

Newport has a got few quick, knowledgable racers kicking around

check out the AC

rhodyflyguy 04-08-2005 11:30 AM

eben,
we've been to natl's since then. we kick a$$. plus, we've got a decent coach. we also kicked tabor's butts this past fall, i think. it's amazing, though, how little a lot of the kids on the team know about wind/tide relationship. hell, what do i know- i'm an underclassmen.
oh, and sanibel the week of the 18th

rhodyflyguy 04-08-2005 11:32 AM

and eben, you should check out the frostbite series in newport. i think some of them do it to look cool, though, at least that's how it is in essex. :liquify: all yuppies.

essex is a tricky place to sail. i used to do the spring regatta. did the newport series when i lived there. it was great. the occasional homo yupster but most people were real cool. that was when we used to store our boats and sail out of the armory. those were some fun days :wiggle:
