What was the source of the money to pay for her care all of these years - the insurance settlement. The husband used that money to also pay the lawyers to get her wishes carried out.

If I have to go, I'll take a stroke. A good lesson for everyone to have their wishes in writing.

The husband didn't allow the parents to be with Terry during her last few minutes alive. Need we say anything else about this guy? I can't imagine what her parents were going through watching there daughter starve to death the last two weeks. Not aloud to give thier daugher water without feer of going to jail. Thats what really gets me the most. If ALL the family agreed that Terry wanted to die if put into this positon and that was her wish that is one thing. But in this case you have only one person saying this is what she wanted with NO possitive evedince to support it. I dont know how the hell the courts could rule in the husbands favor with NO evidince.

I heard on the radio that when nutrients are withheld, it's actually a pretty peaceful death. You go into a deep sleep and then ... you go.

Well, I'm alive, and as tacky as this sounds, I'm going out to grab a bite to eat and something to :gu: .

I hope Terry is in a better place.

Why does there always have to be blame attached to a tragedy. There are no winners in this situation. and there's no one to blame.

The Schindlers lost their Child
Michael Schiavo lost his wife and Best friend
Terri Schiavo lost her life

What happened was a sad tragedy and I can't see how anybody can pass judgement on anybody involved in this. Whats that old quote "Never judge a man unless you've walked a mile in his shoes"

The parents were trying to help there child, which is what they are supposed to do. the Husband was trying to do what he thought his wife wanted him to do. This wasn't some criminal case where you needed evidence to convict, it was a family tragedy that opened up a lot of thought provoking questions and some deep soul searching. I feel for everybody involved. I just hope I am never put into that situation, either as a parent or a spouse, because you just can't win.

and why is it so hard to believe that she didn't want to live like that. Every person I've talked to recently about this pretty much ended the conversation w/ the same phrase, "All I know if I'm ever like that just pull the Friggin Plug" Myself included. So its not to much of leap of faith to think that maybe she did want this.

Since it was agreed he was her guaridian by the courts, I believe that he could have prevented them from EVER seeing her. Instead he allowed visits. The parents allowed him to be be called a murderer, etc. After all he went through maybe he wanted to be with her the last few minutes of her life. I don't think I heard very much from the husband (mostly I think a brother of his) when it would have been easy to lower himself to others level.

I have heard the parents have a web site for donations and we all know that they released video tape of her in a vegatative state - Need we say anything else about her parents?

RIJIMMY 03-31-2005 03:27 PM

Not sure if that says anything bad about the parents. I'm sure they're not loaded and this case will influence future cases so others have interest. Pictures in a veg state? Should they hide her? She is who she is, I have no problem with that.
I just can relate to the parents more than the husband. once he shacked up with another woman, he gave away his rights as her guardian. You cannot be in love and have children with another woman and have an unbiased opinion of your wife. That is purely my opinion, not the courts and I respect that.

Terri died a long time ago imo. There are no winners and no villans here, but I believe something very positive game out of all of this. Get a health proxy and/or living will. If my parents were trying to keep me alive in such a state, I'd come back to haunt them. :err:

How come its o.k. to withhold food and water from that poor woman, but there would be screams from all over the world if we did the same to some scum bag terrorist?

Raven 03-31-2005 05:09 PM

May she rest in PEACE.....

Your so right. Scary the way some people think. F'ed up world we live in.

fishweewee 04-01-2005 09:07 AM

Apparently the husband was awarded $1 million in a malpractice lawsuit re: Terry's condition. Also, hubby got a life insurance payout ($150K?).

Terry's parents are a little irked that they haven't seen one red cent of that money. :skulz:
