Larry,

Of course it was worth missing the fifty bucks. It's Cutty.

Got back last night from Cuttyhunk. Fished our brains out. Lots of big bass around right in tight to shore. Many big bass were caught during the tournament. Biggest was 44 inches (we don't go by weight for practical reasons). Several others over 40" were caught. Saw some bigger bass on Sunday morning after the tournament was over. Lots of bait in tight and big bass in among them. Never got the big one myself. Just a few in the 15-20 lb. range. Here's pic of my brother-in-law's 41" 22#er. Can't wait to get back out there over Columbis Day weekend.

For what it's worth, the Fishing Club is great but it is the most expensive housing option on the island. There are many other houses to be had for less per person per night. However, most of these houses are weekly rentals (maybe negotiable in the off-season) so the Fishing Club is a good short trip option. Go to www.cuttyhunk.com and look under rentals for more info.

That club was founded in the late 1800s. Teddy Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and many of the old "Captains of Industry" stayed and fished there. They had 16 bass stands they drew by lottery. Each had their own locking cabinet in a huge liquor safe. There's a lot of nice old fishing art in the clubhouse, and you can still see the original logbook with entries of fish caught before and around the turn of the century.
p.s. Nice pics of the Southwest end on those posts. grb

By the way, Matt, I just clicked on that photo and recognized you. It was great fishing with you guys and hanging around up at the Avalon. I start looking forward to each years trip starting on the ride back from the last. George

George,

That's Matt but he's not me...I'm Slater but unfortunately I don't have any pics of my fish from the weekend so I poached his porn...Matt's my brother-in-law.

As always, a great time had by all. Looking forward to next year as well. One of these years I'm going to get one of those cows on the fly!

Slater
