I am addicted to Ande backcountry. I use to use Fireline 20 and Big Game 20 on my spinning. Spectron 50# on the conventionals. I went over to the BackCountry on both and will not use anything else. Very abrasion resistant, no memory, strong, good knots, no wind knots on the VS 250.

Whiplash.....thank god for ebay tho Berkley needs to bring it back since people are really bidding up the prices when it shows up now.

For years I've used Cortland Spectron for jigging the canal. But I started using Spiderwire Stealth and I think it casts better.

I'm on my 2nd year with 50 lb. Spiderwire Stealth and haven't had a single problem with it. Have used it on 3 different reels, all spinning and its worked fine.

New here but......

I like 30# PP on my 9 and 50# PP on my 10 1/2 PP for my plug rods

20# Sufix Seige on my 10 eel rod...and 14# Fireline on my 7

Sandbartender 10-11-2005 03:13 PM

30# PP green.

bloocrab 10-12-2005 01:24 AM

As far as fishing with it....PowerPro by far. The stuff just sails through the guides like NO-OTHER.....however,,,, I have had several instances with PP (unexplainable breaks in the line) that really peeee'd me off.

Fireline is more reliable but not as smooth. IMO

I just spooled up my Nautil with some Gorilla Braid...haven't casted it yet though......

For mono, of course it's Big Game

unexplainable breaks ... my bro'inlaw had similar due to a micro fracture in the ceramic of the tip top . he couldnt figure it out 'till we relined and as I pulled it to get more line out it cut like a razor.
?

bloocrab 10-12-2005 06:55 PM

I know what you're talking about with fractures in the guides,,,, not the case in my scenario....

Defects in the line itself. I was so annoyed and determined one of the times that I hand peeled all the line off under bright light and investigated every inch.......found what looked to be defective spots along the line...areas that looked crushed or pinched. ???...I checked another spool and it wasn't the same.....???......I think there are some bad spools bouncing around...I sent them a letter,,,, I heard nothing?...BUT, I WILL STILL BUY PP....
