Those multiple windows seem like they will restrict the view to the outdoors along with collecting saw dust on the sills of each individual window pane.
Vinyl replacement windows are maintenance free and easier to clean.

Lots of happiness on your BF plug factory and your new home.

BigFish 11-01-2005 01:06 AM

I don't do anything without thinking about it...and then thinking about it some more. I have a certain look I was going for in my shop....so it has some visual character and also some function.....those windows do not open....don't need or want them to because the dust will be blown everywhere so I put fixed sash's in....other windows will open but those two I did not want them to....I like lots of panes as it has more personality and a kind of "dated" look. They also offer lots of light in that area....I could have gone with some insulated, vinyl windows but I am putting form ahead of function for the sake of enjoyment....I also could have gone with vinyl siding instead of painting but then that would be boring to look at in my mind. I am just trying to create as I go to make something unique, fun and functional as best I can. Interior walls could be a quick inexpensive plywood or rock but due to the fact that the shop will be heated part time by a wood stove, and pretty damp in the winter when not heated I thought rock would be a mistake.....rough sawn pine perhaps installed vertically might be nice...more work but alot nicer. As for dust? There is going to be dust no matter what I do with the window sills.

thefishingfreak 11-01-2005 01:12 AM

put a effin' exaust fan in there somewhear.
out the wall? out the roof?

besides.......larry's 41 now.... has more personality and a kind of "dated" look.

Larry;
Stay away from rough sawn baords for the interier. You cannot get the dust out of them! I would use one side good plywood!! Some thing that will hold lots of screws and nails for hanging stuff!

Also a little 4.1 cu.ft. fridge ($149) at Wally world. :buds:

gone fishin 11-01-2005 10:41 AM

Hey Larry -- :btu: just blow the dust off the panes with the compressor once in a while. Going to put the compressor in a outside room or isolate it inside. I put my compressor in a a-joing shed area and find it a pain in the butt to adjust the pressure. Got to get the controlls inside the cave.
Also trying to get my vac to exhaust the sawdust and crap into a bin outside. Anyone have any idea how to do that? :jump:

BigFish 11-01-2005 01:59 PM

You know Charleton I never thought of that...you may be right there. Might have to go with smooth ship-lap pine instead!

striprman 11-01-2005 02:16 PM

Got any old lobster bouys to hang on the side of the outside wall ?

BasicPatrick 11-01-2005 04:45 PM

BigFish 11-01-2005 05:05 PM

Hey BP...where you been?

justplugit 11-01-2005 05:19 PM

Larry, that was a good point on the rough sawn. You could also get rough saw 1 side/ smooth the other in an 8 in size. Probably cheaper than all smooth.

BigFish 11-01-2005 05:23 PM

Yeah Dave I was looking at some of that today....probably go with the 8 inch! Trimmed out one of the windows this after inside and out...."BOING"....came out unbe-freakin-lieveable! I do love wood! :wiggle:

justplugit 11-01-2005 05:30 PM

Oh man, your never gonna wanna come out. :)

BigFish 11-01-2005 05:45 PM

home away from home.

Raider Ronnie 11-02-2005 12:43 PM

Looks good Larry!!!
But just a suggestion,
I may think twice about posting the pics on the internet, just in case you didn't pull a building permit!!!
But if you have a permit, as it appears you need one,
post all the pics you have!!!
Like I said, just a suggestion, you never know who's lurking around!!!

Charleston 11-02-2005 01:10 PM

Put the compressor up overhead. Run a solid line to a manifold with a few regulators. No floorspace lost.....

reelecstasy 11-02-2005 03:02 PM

Lookin good BF....can't w8 till it's done

BigFish 11-04-2005 04:40 PM
