Hey which submerged jetty is that? I was with Bob. I think I saw you guys talking in the parking lot about canal fishing when Bob was picking up our return tickets. Too bad we were fishing and not hunting. I think we saw 5 or 6 deer Saturday night, even almost hit one.

This weekend was my first trip to the island and I am in love. That place is exactly what surfcasting should be. I only managed two fish, one at dusk and one at dawn both about 34", with not even a touch all night but it was great. I've never seen as many deer and pheasents in my live as I saw in one day and one night there. I can't wait to get back there.

ThrowingTimber 11-06-2005 07:37 PM

I think you guys and krispy were the only ones to catch anything decent all weekend!

The fishing was terrible, especially this time of year, worked very hard for the few we had, miles of walking and casting.

That trip was my swan song for this season! I am all done, may go out once or twice but I am totally burnt from 7 nights a week this year...See you next year :humpty:

I'm alittle relieved to hear that, I was afraid that it was just me and that everyone was probably killing them somewhere else (especially since with all the people I saw driving around during the day, I only walked by one other guy fishing in the spots that I tried) and that I'd have to read about it on here, something along the lines of "anyone could have caught fish this weekend over there". I should have a few good photos to add to this thread but unfortunately forgot my camera in the truck for the best photo opps at dawn :(

Fishing was awful. Walked aver 5 miles the last day. Left the Island on the 8:00 AM ferry this morning. The company was great. Met a ton of guys I had never seen live before. All in all a great week end and a lot of fun. The fish just were not there and " you can't catch what isn't there."

piemma 11-07-2005 11:13 AM

Billy, BTW Great pictures!! Great finally meeting Chris, t. Orlando, Peter L and seeing Mike (redlite), Vic, Hab, Toby. BI Jeff was very quite.

Too funny, can't wait to see the pics. Mike was just lucky he wasn't in P Town, he would had all the wrong phone numbers stuck to his truck :laughs:

There was one other strange thing I saw on the Island this past weekend. As I was driving the SW side, I turned a sharp corner to find Krispy standing behind a deer that had its head stuck in the fence. A moment later, I watch Tony O walk up along side the deer and then stick his head in the fence too. As I drove by quickly, I couldn't help wonder what heck that was all about?

chris L 11-07-2005 01:34 PM

maybe krispy was having his way with the deer ? then tony saw how much fun the deer was having and he wanted to be next , so he got into position .

Strider 11-07-2005 01:42 PM

OH MY!

Squibby17 11-07-2005 01:45 PM

You know those goofs on the kayaks ?
Yep one of them was me.
I was at Twin Maples. With the wind blowing S SE SW I didn't make it the your end.
There were other Stripermen there.
Recognize any of these guys ?

t.orlando 11-07-2005 04:37 PM

Unfortuanatly I recognize them all, even the old guy on the chair. Fishing was pretty lame, although I got a personal best....40in conger. Plan B, pranks and jokes were top notch, havent had so many good laughs in a while. Great putting faces to some names and as usual GREAT time with the RI/CT crew. Jersey guys were cool too. ........Krispy and Toby, dont worry, revenge will be sweet.

ThrowingTimber 11-07-2005 04:53 PM

:skulz: Im bringing some really big hooks and apples next year :skulz:

I was out there this weekend too. I echo what everyone else has said. I caught fish into the low 20's but I worked hard for them and they all came after dawn. I didn't see any bait around. One of the fish that I caught had three lobsters inside it and one was about a pound and a half. The deer were everywhere.

Sea Dangles 11-07-2005 11:43 PM

My liver couldn't take another day out there.Great to meet everyone and put some faces on these silly names we use.Beautiful place for sure.

NIB 11-08-2005 07:23 AM

My friends Ricky an Charlie leanin on the truck.2 reel good guys.Ricky's closest thing I have to a fishin partner these days. He's been dyin to go out there an I was invited but couldn't make it.he got one 17 sunday night before the lightning.Talkin to him on the phone said the conn. guys where real nice. Also had nice words about Brian an Vic.an a few others he could not remember.

seadogface 11-08-2005 08:37 AM

I should retract the "goofy guys" thing in my post. I was fishing with 2 hard bitten kayak fishermen. In the center back is "Lefty" a Old Salt Gloucester Mass fishing Capitan & the "Riddler" whom has fished like a man possessed for the past five years forgoing working a 9 to 5 job like me. The man lives lean just so he can fish. These guys are definitely not goofy. About the only thing we saw was a 8 foot Mako. A couple of bite offs on eels & a lot of headwind.
I would do it again just to bump into & talk to fellow bassmen like yourselves. It was a pleasure.

JHABS 11-08-2005 07:34 PM

It was very slow out there, Still had a ball, Highlight of the trip was finding a dead 45 inch fish on the Beach and seeing all those deer.
