Coco - wish I had a chance to introduce myself!

Fishsmith, I think Clamdigger was with me at that point - look on the front page of the site and see if that was the guy...

Ernie, nice to meet you too...

fishsmith 03-25-2002 01:27 PM

hey John,
It was as different guy than the one on the front page here. No big deal, I'm just putting a face with a name.

schoolie monster 03-25-2002 03:01 PM

This was my first year at the show... it was pretty cool. It was good to see you John, as well as Bill and Julie and the Plastic Man. I missed Krispy. I forgot to ask which booth and stop by... sorry dude.

Got to see some of the crew and met some new people too. Didn't get to see any of the lectures, but next year I'll come without child. 4 year olds are tough at these functions.

I came away with a bunch of Bob's magic baits and some of Julie's flies and teasers. I've gotta tell both of you that I'm very impressed with your work. We are friends, but honestly, this is some good quality stuff. My hat's off to you. I know they're gonna be killaz.

I can't wait to field test this stuff! Double trouble when I hook up a GS shad with a FW teaser... zzzzzzzzzz... that Stradic drag's gonna get a workout this spring.

I also got a sweet assortment of Habs plugs from John's year long tourney. Someone mentioned they are just too pretty to fish with... I just know that the pink popper would just murder those blues munchin' on squid on the cape, but man I'd hate to see any teeth marks on that guy. Thanks John... and as other's have mentioned... thanks for this awesome domain. This one heck of a community that's developing here. I made a joke last week or so about the homegrown talent with Saltheart startin' up with the rods, FW's teasers/flies, GS' plastic, etc... but it ain't a joke. There are some really neat things developing here and its sounds like things are just taking off. I'm happy to be a part of it.

Can't wait to see you all out on the water... we be in the stretch run now.

nightfighter 03-25-2002 04:01 PM

Lemme see, rubba from GS, plugs from Habs and Krispy, teasers and fresh bucktails from BC and FW, new reel, surfbag. Just didn't get the phone call for any of the raffle prizes.

FW if you get a chance, tell me which rod and reel combo that were recommending for my twins.

Delivered one bucktail to a fly buddy of mine, and found him tying feathers and glitter to some leadheads. Think I've got him to try some fly/spinning!

Please let me know when the fish start showing up down there. We are 2-3 weeks behind you guys here on the north shore.

Cuttyhunk dates?

Still waiting for an invite to mecca BM.

Getting the boat graphics done this week. 13' whaler being re-christened, "Stars 'n Stripers"

I got some more rubber from GS. A couple of Habs plugs at CMS, and some Krispy plugs. I got a sweet Lami schoolie rod from Saltheart, a deal I could'nt pass up. Some great tips from Baitcaster, Fisherwoman, and Tony Stetsko. Some new freindships. It was great. Now all I need is a couple of spinning reels, and a conventional reel for the rod that Mike is making me. Oh yeah and now that I saw how small those keep alives are and how many herring they can handle I guess I will get one of those setups......

Echang was that you on Sayurday over by Habs booth lookin for the eel skin jigs? If that was you I was there with Tattoo.

Smokey 03-25-2002 05:17 PM

It was the best fishing show this year. I can't wait to try out my new gear. I already started to do the pee dance.

Bazza 03-25-2002 07:57 PM

I also picked up some rubber from GS. Those Hab's plugs are beauties, I now see why they are in such demand. Tony Stetsko's talk was very informative, especially on reading the beach. I also picked up a Roberts "Pepe". I'm looking forward to trying out some of the stuff I picked up the shows this winter.

Krispy 03-25-2002 09:41 PM

Baitcaster & I want to thank all of you for your great support this weekend. We had a great show, would have posted yesterday but was pretty beat up.

It was great seeing & meeting all of your. JohnR has put together quite a great group of fishermen & women here on this site and I want to thank him for such a fantastic job.

Without John putting such an effort into this site and doing getogethers thru out the year, most of us may have never met.

Krispy & GS, thanks for the goodies and glad the show was a success for you both.

Nightfighter, try getting them Penn Power Graph- 7 ft medium heavy action rod. & putting on a Shimano Spirex 4000, loaded with 10 lb berkley big game green line. If you have any questions please give me a shout, was great bs'n with ya at the show.

Jenn, sorry we didn't get more time to gab, was looking forward to that. I guess we will just have to do a few spring flings on the cape after the bassies and ketch up a little. Hope you found some goodies at the show.

Clammer was great to see you out and about.

Had a great little chat with Jhabs and Brad from Hawg Hunter. Great guys.

Mr & Mrs. Schoolie Monster, great to see you guys and look forward to putting some time on the water together this year.
Have a safe and very fishy trip. LMAO

We will all be on the water soon. BRING IT ON!!!!

Got Stripers 03-26-2002 09:26 AM

I didn't buy much my self, a half dozen of the little Rangers and a Berkley Boga Grip wantabe. I did manage to come home with a couple freebies, some of Krispy's work I'll try dragging around behind the boat and some poppers I think might work ok.http://www.ledgerunnerbaits.com/habs.jpg :).

nor-easter 03-26-2002 10:29 AM

Glad to have been able to get to Plymouth and see you folks again. Always good times when friends get together.
Hi mr. Habs and the Tattoo. Will force myself to wait for May-June.

"I got rubber,too";)

Mr. Krispy, Hello again. Have already "tested" a couple of those wooden thingy's. Are they supposed to have the hooks on the TOP?:o

Before someone gets the wrong idea and thinks something is wrong with Krispies Plug. The above bit about the hooks being "on top" is a joke! Those of you who really know me know that I have a weird sense of humor! I hope!

Good fishing to every one.

Spare Spool 03-27-2002 10:39 AM

Hey Specialist

That was me at the Habs booth talking to Tattoo. Nice to have almost met you. Now you know what I look like, so you have an advantage over me :D :laughs:

TheSpecialist 03-27-2002 03:51 PM

Yeah I know what you look like. Where are you in Boston?

Spare Spool 03-27-2002 06:48 PM

Live in the South End and work in Back bay, which is pretty convenient. I notice by your profile that you like hockey. I'm a HUGE hockey fan. Where are you located?

TheSpecialist 03-27-2002 10:44 PM

I am from Jamaica PLain, but I reside in Quincy now. I work for the phone company, cover from Mass ave in Roxbury/So end to Dedham. I love hockey myself. I played in my local unions tournament this past weekend and we won the whole thing.

redcrbbr 03-28-2002 02:03 AM

way to go!!!!! what was your record???

Fishpart 03-28-2002 07:04 AM

Ben and I had a great time at the show. Love those Habs and Tatoo special order jobs:D . It was good meeting up with a few folks I haven't seen since last fall. Now to get some time on the water.

TheSpecialist 03-28-2002 04:23 PM

Red we were 3-0. The way the tournament was set up the team on Friday night with the most goals got a bye the next round. We won friday night 9-2. We play the third round on Saturday night winning 5-2. Then on Sunday night we beat the heavy favorite 5-2, winning the championship game.

Spare Spool 03-28-2002 04:29 PM

Hey specialist that's super(hockey team). I'm just a fan. I used to play when I was younger. J.P. I used to go to a bar called the Brendan Behan a lot. My friend Denis Brennan played there every Monday night for a long time (this was many moons ago though).

Rich R 03-29-2002 01:31 AM

I just ordered my first Saltheart rod thank to seeing his handywork at the show!!:p

JohnR 03-29-2002 08:49 AM

Rich - That is a very nice rod. I was going to build one myself but I already have 4 rods to do

Welcome to S-B!

Saltheart 03-29-2002 10:51 AM

Hi Rich , welcome to Striped-bass.com. This is a site with great people and very little trouble. You'll like it here.

The blanks have been ordered and should ship monday. You'll get your rod about 2 weeks after that.

Rich R 03-29-2002 11:18 AM

Thanks for the welcome gentlemen! It certainly seems like a very laid back board. Kinda like hanging out in your favorite tackleshop for a half hour or so. Not that I ever do that!!! :)

John, I have some rods to build as well so when Saltheart gave me his more than reasonable price for that rod, I just had to jump at it! Too many things to do and not enough time. PLUS I got tabbed to be assistant soccer coach for my son's team. Maybe I could work off some of this insulation I built up over the Winter!

Saltheart, my son and I are heading to the post office with money order in hand! Should be there early next week. Let me know when it arrives.

bloocrab 03-29-2002 01:00 PM

...Welcome aboard Rich, I don't know if I can read this thread any longer...I'm disgusted with myself that I didn't make it....360 days until the next show..

...Tattoo, I tried contacting you earlier....(not sure if you got my message)....but I'd like to add another 200 darters to my order....and I'll get back to ya on the needles....:)

....these babies are gonna go quick!!!......;)...you better forget fishin this season...and just stay in your shop all summer...:D
