When a page loads fast and is compatible with both browsers (most of the time) they will load the same with maybe a slight edge to FF. It basically comes down to when the site is designed. If the site is geared to open standards FF will usually be the better browser. If the site is geared to a Microsoft back end with Microsoft specific code it will work better in IE.

Is Foxfire fully integrated with the rest of the Microsoft applications? For example , if I click on an email link in Foxfire , will it open my Outlook mail program automatically . There must be other integration issues too?[/QUOTE]

Clicking on a link will open your default client - for example I use full Outlook (not express) as my email client and it will open Outlook when I click on the link.

Other integration issues? Just like noted above if the site is heavily geared to MS, IE will be the choice. If it is standards based, FF is the better. FF does also have a lot of plug ins to do various tasks and I feel it is generally a more secure browser.

With Firefox or IE ?

Thanks

JohnR 05-02-2006 02:40 PM

OK - I think I found the culprit - IE is not handling that right side colum well and after I put in the Moon Phases it seemed to cause IE to wait longer to load - was not a problem in Firefox. So I changed a few things and we'll ho it goes. I will find a new place for the Moon Phases...

Thanks,

John

IE is not supported anymore and hasn't been for a few years now, Firefox Is free and everyone should Google it and download it.

MS is no longer updating and supporting IE for older operating systems like Win98 and ME (thank god) but they are coming out with IE 7 soon and will likely need to work through, uhh, issues once that happens. FireFox has excellent support for older Operating Systems...

OK you Yakheads - it is up and running :cputin: :lasso:

Sorry about that - it was unrelated - I started a big job (bigger than I thought) that sucked up all the CPU time for 10 or so minutes :tooth:

Slipknot 05-02-2006 05:11 PM

striprman 05-02-2006 05:26 PM

John,
Maybe it's me , but the search functons (pull down tabs) don't work for me in IE but work fine in Firefox. So, I have to do any "searches" using Firefox.

macojoe 05-02-2006 05:59 PM

That explains it, I tryed to get on here tonight like 6pm and the site was down, Nothing, Now seems to be fine and fast! I use IE

I think it is you - is it happening now with IE? OK, seriously, I do not see that problem in IE. Does anyone else have this problem?

macojoe 05-02-2006 06:06 PM

I am flying with IE, I just installed Firefox and it is aso flying

Saltheart 05-02-2006 06:33 PM

Yep , IE is now back to blink , blink , blink. No delays at all.
