I found myself as I read this thread, siding on the side of the Charlie Moore haters. Then as I read more more and more, agreeing with some of the more postive posts on Mr. Moore. I guess I would rather watch just about every other fishing show first, but if nothing else is on, I will watch his show ONLY if its saltwater related. There is only so much large mouth bass fishing I can stomach.

sounds to me like we've got some folks here that feel they are just a little better then Charlie b/c they don't get excited when they catch fish. i don't know about you guys, but i always get excited when i catch fish. and the guy is on tv, trying to sell himself. he is a self made man. he started off at nothing, and now he is on espn. sounds like there is just a little jealousy going on here.

if you think he's annoying, thats fine...but like a few others have said, he's laughing all the way to the bank.

i love the guy!:bshake:

riverrat55 11-06-2006 08:59 PM

You are right!!!
Sounds like some jealousy going on here!!!
I bet anyone of you guys would like to be in shoes!!!!!
Come on, tell the truth!!!!!!!!!

blue oyster 11-06-2006 09:09 PM

truely annoying , i would rather watch the home shopping channel , in spanish (and i don't speak spanish) how can you get excited about catching a fish smaller than most people use for bait .

MarshCappa 11-06-2006 09:14 PM

I also like the Northeast Journal on NESN. Mainly a fly fishing show but they go to some remote off the beaten path places and the show's host is very geniune, no schtick. Plus he makes me feel skinny.

Squid kids Dad 11-06-2006 09:15 PM

Hey..If i'm flipping thru the stations and Charlie is on I watch him..Nothing wrong with that in my book....

marky1 11-06-2006 09:20 PM

It's not bad when Disney is paying his salary on "Beat Charlie Moore"

teaser 11-06-2006 09:59 PM

Charlie Moore funny ... yeah, okay and the world is flat!

He may be laughing all the way to the bank but if being a total ass and getting laughed at is the way to do it, then I'll just keep what income I have and be happy.

He is painful to watch at times, oh, did I mention those times are all the times. No, I have no jealousy thing going on either. I wouldn't want to be a complete idiot to be in the limelight and make a few coins.

I think I'd rather have kidney stones than watch him, his guests are the best thing on his shows and even they look like they'd like to launch his a$$ in the water at the end of the show.

Me, personally I'll pass on watching the idiot, I'd rather watch paint dry.

TommyTuna 11-06-2006 10:37 PM

I would pay Tred Barta to charter out to Charlie Moore for any ocean species and sit back and watch Tred go off...:yak5: "get your head in the game"
Charlie has a pretty slick gig fishing, producing other programs and royalties. Good for him, now shut up & fish.:

Squibby17 11-07-2006 12:23 AM

I actually was fishing right next to Charlie that day off the Vineyard. I went out with Jen Clark (Lenny Clark's wife) she has a charter boat out of menemsha. I was out there filming stuff for my project when she gets called from Charlie on the radio. She told him where to go and basically put him and Bobby right on the fish. Not a ton of skill involved and we all ended up catching some nice fish, although chunking off a boat isn't too sporting if you ask me.

I have to keep an eye out for that particular episode I may be in the background wearing a red ski hat. 15 minutes here I come.

I agree with QD. But my 5 and 3 year old love him even if he is catching bait sized bass, so we watch. 45 and 47" fish are huge to most. It's not usually hard to find Jenn Clark. She a good fisherman also.

Rob Rockcrawler 11-07-2006 06:51 AM

I hated charlie for quite a while but the annoying idiot grew on me this year. He is still an annoying idiot and id like to try to beat charlie on freshwater, or salt for that matter.

Swimmer 11-07-2006 12:36 PM

Hey Charlie Moore derives probably all of his income from fishing and thats o.k. in my book. A little obnoxious, but hey, it couyld be worse!

Adamfishes 11-07-2006 12:48 PM

You guys are taking charlie moore way to seriously. The more fishing on tv the more exposure we get. I find him to be ammusing maybe I'm not die hard enough.

Vermonter 11-07-2006 01:09 PM

I find Charlie annoying but still will briefly watch the show when channel surfing. One show I did watch in its entirety was the recent one with Bobby Orr.....heres a guy who spent all day trapped on a boat with Charlie.......made me realise what a gracious individual Bobby Orr is.:kewl:

InTheHole 11-07-2006 01:19 PM

I like Charlie Moore, he is making a good living doing what he likes to do.. nothing wrong with that in my book. I met him with my 3 boys at the worcester outdoor show a few years ago he was great with the kids and listened at length to my 6 year old tell him all about fluke fishin in our "secret" spot off Nomans ( I had to explain to my kid what "spot burnin" was after this conversation)

I was also wondering if anyone was going to get the reference.

"I didn't even know you were Jewish" - Johnny really knew how to milk a comic moment.

riverrat55 11-07-2006 10:01 PM

Yes, I remember that moment on Johnny Carson!!!
One of the funniest moments on tv!!!
Speaking of OLD!!!
Did anybody ever watch that fishing show with Gadabout Gaddis in the 60's???
That show hooked me on fishing for life!!! A Great Show!!!
:bounce:

capecodder 11-08-2006 10:05 PM

Charlie cracks me up. I like the mix of fishing, Boston sports stars, and his stupidity. You learn a lot about a person when you fish with them and his shows with Wakefield, Vinatieri, Bill Lee, etc... bring a little insight into those guys. All these shows have their plusses and minuses. Charlie is entertaining more often than not.

Without a doubt I think David Sloan's show is 10 times better. Nothing against Charlie but I think the guy is a cheeseball with his corny jokes. I met him at Ernie Boch's fundraiser concert a while back ,whatta complete tool Charlie is. He has an awesome job though, love to be in his shoes
