Although it has been mostly barren the last several years, the outer Cape from Race Point to the Wellfleet line back beaches.

Someday someway they will be back, until then I fish where the fish are but my heart longs for the Truro sands.

I fish from the Hill, to the tail in the Bay. I do well.:kewl:

One type of place, well no, one place actually
 

At first I was thinking it's not one place, but more like one type of place. That would be a long walk with nobody there but water, and hopefully a couple of fish. Then I realize it was a long walk, with maybe a couple of folks you know along the way or at the destination, with water and a couple of fish. Oh yeah, with a porch with a bunch of folks you know and good smokes (gars) and something to good to drink that warms you up (scotch), and stories of the nights' fishing and younger days' debauchery (Cutty). Especially if one the sons come along (not necessarily for the scotch, well OK, scotch too then for the full rights of passage). Bob H.

The whole Cape and Islands are my favorite. Out of that I'd have to say the Barnstable Bay side area.

Vineyard since "73" 1st last and always.

The Block, particularly a place on the SW and a place on the E. Don't get there enough and don't fish the surf enough when I'm there, but that has to be numero uno. Canal is a close second.

Gooseberry Island in Westport to Warren's Point in R.I. Just because it's in my comfort range with my little "tin" boat.

The Outer Cape with Truro as the most senic. The dunes behind you ,and the waves crashing, now if there were more fish, instead of seals that would be outstanding.

Aquinnah southside from Squibnocket to the north shore at Menemsha creek. If you walk this whole stretch and don't catch a fish your lures are contaminated, throw them away.

If I'm traveling than M.V. is tops for me.

I have grown to love the Elizabeth Islands over the past two years. Such beautiful scenery and always some fish to be had someplace.

This is a tough one as I have seen a good part of the striper coast.
While I have never been to the Vineyaad or Cuttyhunk.I would have to say Montauk is my favorite.In no other place is there a community of surfcasters like there is in Montauk. New Yorkers can be hard,They covet their jewel out there,but they warm up in time.I could pull into the lower lot and never wet a line and not be board at all.While I have traveled quite a bit and have run into the most gracious people you could meet..And in the process I have made some good friends along the way...There's just nothing that can compare to "M"..
I just love fishing the sweeping currents.
If you took the current out of striper fishing I think I would rather play golf or checkers or something.

the backbeaches of the Outer cape and the islands of N.&S. Monomoy.Having the privilage of staying in the dune shacks on the Backside and walking the deserted beaches is actually religeous to me.Walking the expansive flats of the Islands stalking cruising fish in calfdeep water is just as humbling.There's a few other places on the cape but mentioning them will upset a very close and dear friend with the initials T.C.Each area has it's merits.Also,a couple of Islands between The Rock& M.V. have been a special hideout.Like"redlite" says.Realy it is the HUNT.

Out all the places I have surf fished...the best stretch of beach for the plug aficionado (not the bottom dwellers) is the south side of BI. Anyplace from Old Harbor Point to SW point. To me that is the ultimate NE surf casters nirvana. It combines the best of everything. Location, structure, relative size, access, big water and low crowds and natural beauty. Yeah, other places have better single attributes that make them attractive...ie, Montauk, Cutty, MV, and many parts of the cape have some very appealing aspects but their drawbacks make them less ideal...but Block I and in particular the south side of block has the best combined attributes IMO.

Anywhere there's a large concentration of fish available. For me, every place has its own unique charm.

Also....winter time, Virginia Beach

I haven’t traveled to many of the places others here have fished. I do really enjoy the area I fish most often from Naps to FPR but need to start doing a little more exploring.

Block Island south side - very, very reliable. I've had my most memorable experiences fishing there.

That stretch from Nauset North Lot, to Head of the Meadow! LOT of room & fishy water in there, most foot- accessible only! :kewl: :walk:


Do I even have to mention in those no- drive zones I was the only human seen there fishing late nights 98% of my trips even during prime- time? (Sept/ Oct. mid- late 90s). Ah... big Bass consistently from the beach with solitude too! Amid Cape Cods' natural Fall- time splendor & beauty! That was THE place/ those were the days! :yawn: :p



I'll tell you about my favorite stretch(es) today in about 20 years! (a la Frank D.-- only once I'm done w/ these beaches myself! ;) )

While I love fishing the NH rocky shoreline. The outer cape from Ballston beach North to Race Point just can't be beat. First got to fish there in 1965 and I've been hooked on the area ever since. Could do without the mung season but otherwise love the area.
