Capesams, I didnt think the *locals of chatham* thought they could learn anything from the rag....but then again if your boat sits in your driveway for a year while you nurse a nut I can see how the mag would be a good thing...:faga:

your sandles and those red painted toenails:D or are those the stick on ones?

UserRemoved1 02-04-2007 08:37 PM

I'm not going so I don't care. But I will say this...if you think for even a split second that they're NOT making big $$ then you should go ask for their advertising rate sheet. $700 a month for a 1/4 page ad and something around $3500 for a inside cover ad... Can just imagine what a commercial spot goes for... Again I'm not going so it doesn't matter to me...don't shoot the messenger either I'm just telling it like it is.

Tagger 02-04-2007 08:51 PM

$$$$$ who cares ,,, there goes our 15 minutes

Slipknot 02-04-2007 09:54 PM

Well I DO think for more than a split second that any profit they would make on a short segment on a half hour tv show that only airs in New England on cable anyway, would NOT be huge money. What is huge money anyway? I bet it would be reasonable. I don't see OTW on the stock exchange yet.
It doesn't matter anyway now.
They have big expenses so what is wrong with being successful and getting paid for it, I'm sure it's not a non-profit co. #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& lures makes big money too I'm sure, I know you put out a lot in expenses also but I don't buy it for one second that you don't make a profit either. It's the American way, free enterprise. Ya don't run a business to lose money, why would anyone unless you were the mob laundering cash or something:lurk: I guess if they choose not to offer compesation for filming a plugfgest event, then taht would be their choice, but the subject of this thread was "would anyone mind?" Unless Flap got some PM's saying someone minded, then I guess nobody did. Oh well, like Tagger said, there it goes. Thanks for trying capesams, but I guess that angle didn't workout. You can voice your opinion all ya want even if it goes against the flow or isn't totally positive, nobody is outcasting you, and also nobody else was looking for a handout, only you I guess. I'm not afraid to voice my opinion either.

If anyone else has any suggestions, by all means post them. Nobody is perfect. Any help is accepted

BigFish 02-04-2007 10:05 PM

I just think it would have been a nice sideline on one of their shows....fun to watch!

Fin Addiction 02-04-2007 10:14 PM

Capesams....I noticed that *Petrel* was gel coated over on the transom repair...This is the perfect time to rename the boat..*drum roll please*....."OUTCAST"...:laugha:

capesams 02-04-2007 10:28 PM

I'll forgive you this time cause your new around here{cape] an being OTW for the first time. when you change the name of a boat you just cooked your own goose...it's bad luck to change the original name.:rtfm:

vineyardblues 02-04-2007 11:04 PM

I am game, just got a hair cut, Who the hell cares.

NIB 02-05-2007 12:44 AM

Well u can tell it's winter..
I love it CS stirs the pot,Flap Flips.
Slip, slaps an VB gets a haircut..
Who cares what they make..
Think of it this way if they don't make any money an fold what will u have to read OTT then..
Seems it would have been nice even if i don't get the TV show here in NJ..
Seems infomercials are more popular..

UserRemoved1 02-05-2007 05:50 AM

Damn I'm rich and I didn't even know it. Can someone move this wheelbarrow full of cash so I can bury Polly? :hee:

Point taken Slip. Not what you think and a far cry from a probably $10k or more tv spot that they may get 7-8 different ones each show..I don't watch their show never have time.

Like I said I not going just pointing it out, thread is not about how much I make or don't.

Flaptail 02-05-2007 06:22 AM

This is why I HATE the internet. It's not going to happen, I made the call. Don't know how something that would have been just plain and simple a nice thing for guys to get some exposure and the site to get some recognition turns into a bitch session on theorizing how much money OTW would make, stupid in plain english.

Raven 02-05-2007 07:24 AM

nothing saying we can't make our own Movie....

even if it's a you tube ....video

capesams 02-05-2007 07:32 AM

OMG..someone asked a ? and another post's a reply and everyone has a heffer....The tides have alway's moved in two different directions, that's just the way life is.

mikecc 02-05-2007 07:47 AM

It would only be fair if OTW would place a banner add on their site for S-B.
Lets face it . It would not cost them a penny. Both sides benefit.
Your acting like it's CS fault it is not. It is more like a spoiled child not getting his or her way.

hunan 02-05-2007 08:53 AM

w.a.t.

Redsoxticket 02-05-2007 09:06 AM

Thanks for making the decision for S-B.
A simple poll (yes or no) would have given an answer.

JohnR 02-05-2007 09:36 AM

It's up to you guys. I think it is a shame, that with the quality of work you all do to have it showcased on TV would be an apt vindication of what you all do. I don't need it to be a showcase or infomercial for S-B (sure a little mention would have been nice :hihi: ) but YOU guys are the artists, YOU guys would be the "stars"... So that's all up to you.

If its off then its off - we'll move on again to PlugFest. I think some of you missed an opportunity to have your craft shown in a different light on a different medium. But not exactly the end of the world either :lasso: :wiggle: Your work still speaks for itself here and in the water - where it counts....

ThrowingTimber 02-05-2007 09:56 AM

I vote no.

Last time I checked this site didnt need any "press" We run plenty of raffles etc to raise dough to keep lights on.

Will I also be chastized for my opinion as CS was?

If your work speaks for itself, dont interrupt it :)

Karl F 02-05-2007 10:06 AM

so, is this now a poll?

NO, but, Thank You..

A lot of different reasons, after some long thought.
None of which have anything to do with the finacial affairs of OTW, or OTW/TV, I am sure they make a handsome profit, but, after all, they are a business, and the bottom line, is the bottom line, last I checked, it was the American way.

As for being an Outcast, I've always worn the badge, with Honor :D

Nothing about the money or a raffle, just thought it would be nice to show some of the great work by the guys here - that's all. And not that the work needs to be shown on TV - just thought it would be nice... :bshake:

CS on the otherhand is a greedy, tightwad. Just selling off one of the Norris squids or hiw wooden atoms would get him three years of OTW maggie :tooth: :bshake: :rotfl:

Flaptail 02-05-2007 10:21 AM

Chastized, no absurd yes.

OTW is a business and they didn't come to me I went to them.

I find it totally absurd that what they make from 11 minutes of film time is the big discussion when it was done to simply help the site which through more membership possibly generated by the exposure could lead to added revenue for John to keep this place at the level it is. I was wrong I guess.

So, I guess maybe we could get back to debating if John would allow members to sell there stuff for "parts" money then? That discussion is okay. What part of the "parts" money would come back to John or each of us that are registered memebers for that? Hmmm. interesting thought!

Or how about sponsors spamming the hell out of plug buildiing threads with new colors or "new" designs which are actually rip-offs of Gibbs and others and thereby, by ripping off the design, be able to make a profit from that? And shouldn't that spam be on the sponsor's forum?

%$%$%$%$ plugfest and all that goes with it. I know I asked if anyone minded but I didn't think it would get this absurd. What a waste of time.

UserRemoved1 02-05-2007 10:25 AM

spam

wow that was aimed at me thanks steve.

I thought posting the stuff would be appreciated by guys. It's a thing that not many get to see. I'll delete every picture I ever posted here if you guys think it's spam.

Slipknot 02-05-2007 11:09 AM

:bsod:   chill a little ok Flap, please don't take it all so serious.

well this thread sure went down the crapper, I hope we can all move on from this and look forward to plugfest. I hope Flap can get past this and come to plugfest as he would be sorely missed if he doesn't go. :(

Salty, no need to delete pics
maybe if people think it's more appropriate, maybe post them in the sponsors forum:huh: I don't know. I know I like seeing the different colors and stuff, it is a little much seeing rows and rows of plugs so maybe those are over the top, I don't know.

you guys want this thread flushed?

http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...6&d=1111170429

UserRemoved1 02-05-2007 11:15 AM

Like I said Bruce it's something not alot of guys get to see. I put that stuff in the plug forum because #1 those aren't "sponsors specials", #2 people keep asking for pics, and #3 because I thought posting stuff like the golden Fire thread was about showing stuff new and neat. THOSE AREN'T EVEN FOR SALE fwiw.

I'm done in here. And I'm not throwing potshots like others. Delete the pics please, delete all the threads if you want. I'll never show pics again in this forum if that's what you guys WANT. I could care less. It takes time out of my day to do this stuff. %$%$%$%$ this

JohnR 02-05-2007 11:37 AM

I think we should take a step back from the negativity in this thread and not take it so damn seriously. Have a little fun & cumbaya and forget the negative for a little while. Come to plugfest to ENJOY yourselfves a bit.

Remeber the Twinkies

Thanks,

John

ThrowingTimber 02-05-2007 11:46 AM

Flap relax dude. you asked a question folks responded. Name calling and getting into this sponsor this and that sponsor that is just making you look funny bud. I know you tried to do a good, but it was one that most folks didnt want done. Let it be  No need to get all wound up about it man. You know what they say, no good deed goes unpunished :smokin:

funny absurd. You ask and opinion. and mine is not the same as yours, so my view is absurd.

On another note, too coold to fish night will have the girls gone wild crew there with a few models :smokin: that ok with everyone???

And the twinkies will be mine once again this year!!!

Fin Addiction 02-05-2007 12:15 PM

"KUMBAYA" is good....Works really well on some of the sissy fly fishing sites....Before ya all know it you will be...:lm: As someone who runs a site like this with a slightly different avenue, I can tell you that the bigger the site gets, the harder it is to please everyone....I think the simplest, easiest thing is take a poll or vote and go from there...

JohnR 02-05-2007 12:22 PM

Speaking of Sissys - Is that YOU Jeff :buds: :bshake: :hihi:

Swimmer 02-05-2007 12:31 PM

Plugfest/s-b.com and OTW are a great mix.

Its good for s-b.com and good for OTW, which is the only mag that truly covers this area day in and day out. Thanks for the effort Flap and dont discourage OTW. No one else here will agree with Capesams assessment fo what should be.

Raven 02-05-2007 12:37 PM

well Swimmer

i was kinda... hopin an wishin for a Striped-Bass style yaught :boots:
