i just read that daylight savings time will increase gas prices because people will be driving more with more daylight.

secondly

right off CNN this morning .....
an interview with Goldsmith's garage who just quit
selling gasoline because it was costing them
$1000.00 per month.

he said: the gas delivery was costing him
more per gallon than what you could buy it retail for. :hs:

So now ........... he's just a service station.

True Raven.. they are trying to sqeeze the independents out.. they want to own all the reatail outlets, (chain style) too.
Friend of mine is in it with his family, 50 years plus.. they only hang on to the gas end of it, becasue of his father, too stubborn, or sentimental to quit is... I have seen the invoices.. they pay more, than the chain owned store (same brand), a mile down the road.. sad....

They also have a SUBSIDIZED public transportation system that serves the majority of the continent. Try to use pubic transportation to get somewhere in the US :wall:

I know several people with the Prius, they all love those cars. And the freedom to be able drive with a little less concern about how much fuel they're gobbling down.

When you think of how many miles many of us cover in a season (as long as it's not on a beach), a fuel sipper like that makes a lot of sense, not counting the fact surf rods don't fit inside very easily. But that's what roof racks are for.

Raven 03-16-2007 09:09 AM

imagine.....

if a vehicle was designed like a prius but made longer
and had all fisherman features built in.....
live well , fridge 4 frozen bait & drinks
interior rod racks, plug rack, wader sink,
.then the mind, wanders....

 gives me the "oh- oh- oh...." off tooltime....:boots:

Unfortunately, if there were a larger fishing featured vehicle and it was even 4WD I'd be hard pressed to volunteer and drive it over the sand on through the SW... (not that my truck has spent mush time out there :wall: ) - You want to break a Hybrid-Eclectric drive? Expose it to the CCNS for a few weeks a year - not to mention needing to fill out all the Clean Harbors forms the day after it gets stuck at low tide...

Now, a hybrid that uses Saltwater for fuel  :smokin: ...

"what about your bills?"

"yaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I don't think I'll pay them either..."

taJon 03-30-2007 07:35 AM

If it makes you feel any better, jet fuel in Boston was over $6 a gallon a while back.

Raven 03-30-2007 08:17 AM

iran can try to interfere with the strait of hamuz where 40% of the oil gets exported from...or just quit selling oil for a time...

not to mention that supposedly chavez in venezula will quit supplying usa with oil if we attack iran .... he's on their team.

in either of those scenario's ..... gas will hit $4.00 per gallon and up

um, that's not necessarily what i said.

oil did briefly go down to $49 bbl on supply concerns ... but then rallied back up when the really cold winter weather hit.

if you've been watching OPEC lately, they have been cutting back production because they want to see crude in a trading range of $55-$65 /bbl.

anyways, gas prices always tick up before the summer driving season, because that's when gasoline demand peaks.

this uptick is being exacerbated by the #^&#^&#^&#^&heads in Iran.
