Well, maybe I'm a "nit picker" but that roller is not at 8 o'clock. Viewing from butt to tip, that would be the 10 o'clock, or from tip to butt would be the 2 o'clock.

The only way to make that 8 o'clock would be if you held the reel as a conventional (top of the rod).

The best way to use a VanStal is to buy it on a classified thread and sell it immediatly for a. more money and b. buy two less expensive reels without the hype.

Great point Mike. I wonder what we did 40 years ago when we all converted our 704s to manual pickup?:bsod:
