Blowing up a spot can be helpful when seals are around. Seal decoys I call em. Wait for someone to get sealed, then cast. Most of the times the other seals that are around will follow the seal that got a hooked fish for scraps giving one a short window of nonsealatunity. I think I saw them sharing last week. A bow could knock a lot of those buggers out quietly.:liquify:

hyefisherman2 07-11-2007 08:59 PM

june was good for me lots of keepers and schoolies, its been slow for me lately, now that were in july, hopefully i can still find the fish though. all my fishing is done on shore.

NIB 07-11-2007 09:28 PM

It's been pretty good in NJ..

June was great. July so far has been tough. All the bait a bass could eat. Fishing 40' depths and the skinny, and resorted to fishing a lighted dock for Micro's to remember what it's like to get a little tug. Like others said, hopefully the new moon period this weekend will set things straight. Strange brown film on the water the last couple of weeks, poagies don't seem to mind.

jkswimmer 07-12-2007 12:39 AM

SLOW fished 4 days this past weekend nothing.

EricM 07-12-2007 01:04 AM

Is it too late to join the i suck club?

I got Tuna fever and stopped thinking about bass, but word is SLOW.
Hopefully that just means a push of big fish is right around the corner.

I'll go along with everyone else and say that June sucked. So far july has been good. I think I usually do better in july than june though (n. shore ma). got my two best fish of the year last night on consecutive casts. hopefully the trend will continue. we finally seam to be falling into a regular summer weather pattern.

Do you guys think that the reemergence of pogies and the concentration of bass on them is responsible for the crappy june most of us had, or the unstable weather, etc. ? just curious to here some theories.

nightprowler 07-12-2007 12:27 PM

I don't think i caught a single fish over 26 in. I also only fished about 5 times:nailem: , but i put my time and hit productive spots at productive tides in those 5 nights. Moving and then going away for 2 weeks really put a damper on my fishing. haven't even wet a line in july yet...hopefully that will change this weekend. Going to try to scout some new spots in the tiverton area.

Blitzseeker 07-12-2007 12:29 PM

Have not been out much, but did my traditional spring trip to the Outer Cape in early June and the fishing was better than it has been on our previous spring trips in several years. Average numbers but well above average size.

May and most of june was excellent,so far july has been slow but i'm hoping to turn things around this weekend.:btu:

Been doing some chunking in Hull, MA in the Village. I heard some decent 25# bass from the area but not on my line!
I've seen a lot of skates and dogfish coming in on clams, my only fish in the last 3 trips was a 4# bluefish. Still searching...
