I want Charlie Soares' new book, and hopefully new book by John Skinner ,the surf editor of Noreast. One of the best surfcasting minds around.I heard his book is in print right now.
Re-read Shinning Tides as I do every year.Probably my favorite book

Thanks to many of you for planning to read my new book.I hope I don't annoy anyone by my inability to judge demand ,especially in RI but I am out of books. The first print run has sold out, and next printing is in works for late January.Unfortunate ,due to some corrections necessary ,and this being a Christmas season, everything moves at glacial pace. What it means is that I probably wont be able to restock your local retailer if he runs out of books.Plenty of Striped-bass.com sponsors have them in stock ,including SWE,SRI ,M&D's and others so if you want them under the tree, I suggest you start typing now....:ss:

Happy Holidays

what about Leviathan.. it's about the history of whaling around here, I asked for it for xmas, it looks quite good.

Boy, My copy had better be already bought and wrapped under the tree or there will be hell to pay :hihi:

It was the 1st thing on the list.....

cow tamer 12-13-2007 05:37 PM

Is John Skinners book available yet?
What's the title?

I don't think you should worry .
SRI and SWE have enough (I hope) to get them thru Christmas season. There is not much I can do ,my printer is shutting down next week so all I can do is sit and wait....and wait:hang:
Man ,all those books gone in 14 days...you guys must be firing up a LOT of fireplaces :bl:

I have somewhere's around 20 surfcasting books.
The Art of Surfcasting with Lures is the best.
I can tell that you love to fish.
Thanks for writing it.
I kinda wish you left in a few more Zenoisms.

hyefisherman2 01-12-2008 09:54 AM

What do you like so much about Shining Tides? I have it but haven't read it yet.

Anymore news on the 2 other books you mentioned?

The Dad Fisherman 01-14-2008 11:43 AM

Finished Zeno's Book :kewl:

Currently Reading The Trophy Striper by Farnk Daigneault

and Am waiting for my copy of Reading the Water to arrive.

also want to get Fishing with Bucktails by Doc Muller and give that a read

Mr. Sandman 01-14-2008 05:14 PM

I am reading The Zen of Fish by Trever Corson...which is pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about sushi and its history. This is not a fishing book. He also wrote a great book a couple years ago called the secret life of lobsters. ( I liked that one a lot)

l am also reading Charlie Soares new book "Stemming the tide". While not exactly a how-to it is more of a lifetime of knowledge book presented within many stories. I am enjoying it.

Krispy 01-14-2008 05:19 PM

Another :btu: for "Stemming the Tide" by Charlie Soares. Was a fun read

I like the story about a man a nd a giant bass.Although it was printed more than 50 years ago, the manner in which was writen will never go out of style

Flaptail 01-19-2008 08:14 AM

Z's book is the best thing to come down the pike on bass fishing since the first edition of Woolner & Lyman's Striped Bass Fishing.

Period end of story.

NO SHAME THERE JOE, YOU DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THAT BOOK'S REPRINTING. IT SHOULD BE IN EVERYONES COLLECTION!

SirWinston 01-20-2008 02:00 PM

Seconded !!!!

The call of the Surf, Zeno's great book (which I will certainly be re-reading before April:claps:) and Striper Moon have been doing sterling service at keeping the (lack of) winter stripers and blues at bay......:wiggle:

All three have been very enjoyable reading.

EricM 01-21-2008 02:41 AM

Island

Although all of the stories are rooted in Nova Scotia, Alistair MacLeod's book "Island" is not a surfcasting book, and yet it tells fanstastic stories about the men of the fishing and mining communities of Cape Breton.

Its beautifully written. I can't recommend it more highly. I think it would strike a chord with just about everyone on this board, and it is perfect for the winter's musings.
