amazing --- Nebe and Raider Ronnie must be refering to me!! Yes I am retired have a HP plate and do fish every day I can. I think Raven does the same also. Some days I have all I can do to get around and other days - no problem. I drive a jeep and without the sand sled I would have to give up fishing. It gets me to the water.
When I pull into a HP space I get plenty of looks. I will gladly swap my plate for a good back and good legs. I drive the jeep more than my toyota because it is easier to get in and out of. Just remember, sometimes looks are deceiving. Re read ravens post again and try and put yourself in his shoes. He - like me has days when just getting out of a vehicle is tough. |
If they aren't crawling in then you don't think they deserve a sticker? I'm sure there is some cheating going on but its quite humorous for me to hear that because you can't see their handicap that you think they don't have one. Be thankfull you don't need the sticker and stop worrying that people have stickers for whatever reason. Next you'll want them to pull down their pants and show scars to prove to other shoppers that they are handicapped?
|
I think we all understand that some legitimate disabilities are better one moment in time and worse the next - no one is talking about that.
You think it's bad on the east coast, go to California. I'm not sure of the exact multiple of the number of spaces per business there relative to here, but if I had to guess, I'd say 3 to 4 times. Everybody is friggin crippled out there. Why does Dunkin Donuts need a handicapped parking place? Wouldn't it be easier to just use the drive-through? |

my buddy lost a leg in an accident and wears a prostetic leg and when he walks you would never know it . I have been with him many times when he has been confronted . not all disabilities are realted to legs . you know I can use one I have heart issues ( I dont consider it ) and my doctor asked if I wanted one . No Im not disabled I said . A lot of people have them for family members and take advantage . I believe people that take advantage should be hobbled . |
If I see a car with a placard then there is nothing i can say or do. Like some said here, it may not be that obvious a handicap.
BUT..... When i see a car in that spot with no placard or HP plate, and if I see them, they get an earful from me that would make some people blush. I just can't stand that crap..I have to take my mother around some weekends and I use/we her placard where we go. If some D-bag is taking a spot without a placard; man do I see red !!!:nailem::nailem::af::af: |

all the pain medication being sold today can only put a dent in the pain and render it a little more tolerable but it doesn't totally stop it... as time continues to march on eventually that same person who wasn't in a wheel chair ends up in one after their joints literally disintegrate....and if you were to yank their pant's down you wont see anything visibly wrong. the registry of motor vehicles doesn't hand these placards out like candy. A doctor has to determine your level of disability as reported by specialists who have done many examinations, xrays, mri's and endurance tests on their patients and they basically determine who is qualified to have one. Have some people sweet talked their doctors into getting them one for a non serious problem.... i'd say yes... but they are periodically reviewed ... |

definitely not referring to you ! |
in my shoes ........you say
today i was sheet rocking a third floor ceiling and building the staging over the stairwell to create a safety platform to work on...
my helper had to much to drink yesterday and couldn't work and he's gonna feel my wrath tomorrow in no uncertain terms.... so i had to do the whole thing by myself..... AND ... if he ever leaves me in that scenario again working alone doing a two man operation i'll take it personal and kick his alcoholic ass from here back to florida....:af::af: am i pissed ? OHHH YEAH i mean i feel like.... i've been doing a heavy work out at golds gym all friggan day... and i'm way pumped up, angry, and sore as hell. i would've rather wrassled a grizzly bear...like jerehmia johnson i had to rub lidocaine (Cocaine in a cream) on my ankle joint (because i can't take motrin ...gives me ulcers ect.) to numb the "F " out of it. |
My dad has COPD. If you saw him walk you would have no doubt that he is handicapped. He moved in with my family last year from New Hampshire. He had a N.H. placard. It has since expired. We filled out all the paperwork to get a Mass HP placard, including letters from several doctors. In 8 months the state has not come up with his placard. I pull into HP spaces, get him into his wheelchair and go park somewhere else. It isn't easy to get anything from the state of Massachusetts. It wouldn't surprise me at all if most of the folks you think are taking advantage are doing the best they can.
I also know someone who uses a 12 year old placard from someone who is no longer with us.(I always hope they get caught and publicly flogged for it) |
Their handicap is ignorance.

Who cares. Let them have the handicapped plates. I'm happy I don't have one and can't qualify for one. There are certainly more important issues at hand.
I think that cabin fever has set in worse this year than any other year since I have been on this board. |

That is one of the most intellegent comments on this thread yet. (I'm happy I don't have one and can't qualify for one. There are certainly more important issues at hand.) !!!!!!:musc: |
