Fished with my sone for about three hours.
fish were biting good for about half that time.

We tallied 40 tasty critters.
We ate almost all em' for dinner last night, the last few are my lunch today.

Also finally got to met some board members.

darn, i probally would have been there but i was helping my friend take out his boat. sounds like you did well. my dad felt bad for me and bought some while he was at the grocery store. :( o well , next time ill try during the day. my only chance is the weekend and friday night, if my friend wants to go anymore since our bad luck. and its only monday!

Very nice to meet you and your son. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to go out there again this weekend. If I go, I will be there on Sat at 5 or 6am. Need to get a spot, ya know. It was busy on Sunday.
Have you heard anything about the town pier in Hull producing smelts? They keep talking about it at the bait store but I am a little skeptical.

Christian, to keep your shrimps alive, buy a bait holder and keep your shrimps in the water while you are fishing. Take out a few at a time. This will keep your shrimps very fresh.....but not sure if it will last you a week unless you put those shrimps in water every other day. Also, disposing of the dead shrimps helps keep the live ones healthier.

Is fore river open sundays? think im going to marina bay tommorow.

Yes. I believe that they are open on Sundays. I would call first to see if they have any shrimps. With the cold weather, not sure if Rick went out to refresh his supply.

skunked on a smelting trip at marina bay last sunday. got there too late, they were biting around from anytime before and up to around 8am. people who did catch caught bout a donzen a piece. i did find a way to keep my left over bait. i took an old fish tank and filled it with fresh water and let it sit for a week with a filter running. i then went fishing and didnt have much bait stolen so i had plenty left. i put the shrimp into a gallon jug of marina bay water and carted them home. when i got home i just dumped them into the fresh water along with the marina bay water. seems that they are brackish water shrimps. a bunch were dead before they even touched the water and i culled those out. only a few have died since last night my estimate is five and they were probally already dead when i was removing the dead the day before and just looked over them. i dont know what to feed them but the marina bay water probally had tuns of stuff for them to eat. i did notice while poking around the dock that some fisherman take jugs and drill holes in them and then lower them down into the water with their leftover shrimp. think i'll put some of my own into a jug just to have them there for other times, that way i can always count on having them there in times of desperation. just as long as nobody takes em, but everybody down there seems nice enoguh not too. how long does the smelting last around here? when i went to marthas vinyard over the summer and went spear fishing you could see a few lone smelt just starting to show up around the deep spots of the pier. its illegal to take smelt by spear, and i don't know why anyone would want too try.

I blew the day off from work and went smelting this morning with my buddy.

I tallied about 80 fishies, and he got probably 50.
Nice weather, mild wind, sunny and great fishing.
Dinner tomorrow.

Wow, fed that crippled seagull last weekend. That bird is HUGE!! Not bad for a seagull with a limp.

i still have a tun of shrimp living in my fishtank. hopefully, if theres a break in the rain i can go this weekend.

How long has your shrimps been living for in your tank? That is a great job keeping them alive. Kinda wish I had a tank to keep a fresh supply for myself. Those shrimps will come in real handy when the winter comes and fresh shrimps are not available.

two weeks i think. forecast doesnt look good so i dont think this is the weekend but maybee. i cant believe that the shrimp are still living. their sort of fun to watch especially when im testing the plugs ive made in their tank. thinking of getting a smelt to put in there, bye bye shrimp.
