You have to catch them and kill them. They can really make a friggin mess and cause a lot of damage. DON'T WAIT! You are about to have an entire family up there...I would go with the Bill Murray cattyshack approach to getting rid of them.
Don't let them live, kill them and all their babies.

I had them in VA, and heard them in the attic. They made a hole in the side of the house and got in there and made a big mess which lead to other problems. DO you have a tree right next to the house?...If so remove it.

These guys come back like a bad dream. You have to kill them.:nailem::gorez:

Bagged another one last night!

Plus, I think I found out how they are getting in the attic. Going to fix that this weekend.

No trees next to the house, but they are getting up to the roof somehow (if they're coming in where I think they are). Could they be crawling up the side of the house?

Probably. Pretty agile little buggers.

Agile is right!! My Wife's Aunt had one that slid down the stove pipe into her woodstove. I came over with my fishnet. Had her open the door and caught in in the net. Before I could wrap it up and get it outside, the squirrel escaped and ran out the already opened door. From the time the stove door was opened and the rat was gone was milliseconds. I even rehearsed beforehand. Incredible speed!

They are known to climb downspouts and even get to the roof by climbing the inside of the downspots. Croak all inside and get a pellet gun and plug em in the yard. The buggers are active all winter - even tunneling under the snow. Bird feeders are an attractant also. I use mine for killing fields. The "sign of spring" is a lot of bull. They are active year round - the reason you see them in the early spring is because they are looking to mate. I have a small greenhouse and they love that heat.:rocketem::rocketem:

I just eliminated 10 in my yard...didnt even dent the population, but I did stop the one crazy one that was hell bent on chewing his way into the house...he never made it in....
He was getting on to the house via the power supply wire like a tightrope...I was told to grease it or put a slick hard plastic sleeve over it near the house...hope that helps

i recently read

that if you use (sprinkle) cayenne pepper on the bird seed

they'll never eat it again

but it doesn't even phase the birds

that and you put a rock or other weight on top so they dont /can't flip it

plus you only need to set the one door lever on the teeter plate lever

but i learned to place that side against a solid surface so they can't get to it
and prematurely trip the trap shut....

after that...they become havahart wize
