McCain opposes drilling in ANWR, he voted against it.
|
What I love most about McCain, is that he might be a closet card carrying member of Greenpeace. He had this to say on the O'Reilly factor:
O’REILLY: You voted against ANWR drilling. You voted against ANWR. MCCAIN: Yes, and I’ll vote against drilling if they want to drill in the Grand Canyon, and I’ll vote against it if they want to drill in the Everglades. And I will try to make it more attractive for Florida and California and other states to have drilling off of their coasts, but I’m not going to force them to because… O’REILLY: But no one lives in ANWR. MCCAIN: No, it’s pristine beauty. O’REILLY: So what? Who sees it? MCCAIN: Well, all I do is believe that we have to preserve some of the great natural treasures of this earth… O’REILLY: In the Arctic Circle? MCCAIN: …no matter where they are, my friend. And I… O’REILLY: You know, a lot of people aren’t going to like that. MCCAIN: I know a lot of people don’t like it, but I am also an environmentalist. And so was Teddy Roosevelt, my hero. And I believe that there are just some things that you have to… source: http://texasfred.net/archives/1181 |
McCain has no plan!
|
While you say has no plan, he just earned a little of my respect.

I would vote for mccain in a heartbeat. IMO he is the only viable candidate. These other schmoes are absolute idiots.

He's doing his best to distance himself from Bush with the hope of attracting some Reagan Democrats. It's a counter to Obama's strategy of citing “Bush-McCain" policies whenever possible - in that electing McCain will be a de-facto third term for Bush.
|
What concerns me most about McCain is his war policy but other than that, as mentioned earlier, he has taken some respectable stances on issues despite forsaking political expediency (save torture ban, he voted against that one). McCain, in some cases, would rather go with his gut than with the grain. The problem with that being, Bush, if he gets away with such presidential recklessness and unaccoutability, has set a dangerous precedent for unabashed executive power. McCain could take that and run with it or he could restore constitutional relevance and accountability to the executive branch.
Will he do that? because some members (ex-members) of the current administration should be prosecuted! |

If you somehow believe the hype from the oil lobbyists about drilling in ANWR you're a complete fool. Same with the Bristol Bay Pebble Mine. |
Quote:
Why sell a barrel of oil for $50, when it is evident that you can sell it for $100+ and demand budges little. The only thing drilling in ANWR will do is put more $100+ priced barrels on the market. The Oligopoly is in full effect, and the lobbying firms are their tentacles. |

And the only good thing about McCain taking office would be a damn hot 1st daughter. :hihi: |
Exxon Mobil/BP have submitted plans for technical service contracts to increase production at super oil fields in Iraq.

Iraq is currently producing about 2 mil barrels a day. The biggest oil fields are in southern Iraq and the oil exports via the port city of Basra. Iran is a bigger threat to oil production and movement than the insurgents.
Exxon and BP now have a toehold in Iraq oil production via the TSC's as will other western companies and this will lead to expanding influence and control of Iraqi oil reserves. The pain of paying of $5 a gallon will lessen the backlash of public opinion with regard to the war being about oil. It will be ok with most people because reasonable people are more concerned about money than ideology. |
