Well, RIJ... In a word: No! (& I don't accept challenges to manhood/ surf- prowess from those I don't know-- & who are obviously biased so will never judge fairly! Others I'll take on gladly! :)
Preparation & focus & desire & carefully maintained equipment (esp. pre- VS & ZB...) PLUS being in the right place at the right time = DZ's accomplishment that you want to diminish-- same thing you want to get on ME for? And DZ did it on mono. & on an artificial from boulder- strewn shores that would scare the hardiest fisherman! :err: Kudos DZ! Cronies out of the woodwork will come here I'm sure! Congrats Mark-- you're in the "Sixty" club! I've been working my ass off to join you for many years-- I'm just going the shore & plug route like my personal Bass "heros" did! Hey, Iron Mike! :smokin: |
Nice fish!
I give him credit for heading out alone at night on a boat. I have been on land for so long, I have roots growing from my shoes. |
Ahhh...nice fish but anyone can catch a 62 lb fish if they have 2 arms. You should try it with one arm like my heroes, "Lefty" Loosey (ca. 1964)or "Right Hand" Mary (July 12, 1983 in 4 foot seas).
Gimme a break it's a great fish by an experienced angler and somebody has to belittle it by comparing it to fish in a barrel because it's not the way they fish. Absolutely unbelievable. Again, GREAT JOB, MARK!! |

Dude, a 60 lber is a 60 lber, REGARDLESS. |

But that's just my opinion. Bland? Moi? If you think that's flaming, you should have come along the internet in my "glory days" on another website. |
Never looking to "flame" Mike... Just trying to Post something interesting occasionally... how about you? :wavey:
You're right Mike & cronies: a 60+ from a boat on bait at night behind Block is right there with a 67 from shore there on Wood (or TWO 50's on plastic from there... or a 57 on Wood from the Cape in '05)... etc! :btu: I was totally off- base to suggest otherwise! I apologize for my uninformed opinion! :wid: Sorry all! Back to your congrats thread! :hidin: |
Nice fish !!!!!
|
Nice fish reguardless if it came from shore, boat OR a barrell if you ask me! I would take it either way....
|
just one clarification - I was not diminshing DZ's catch. My reference to the Snowstorm Blitz was to identify a specific event/time when large fish were around in numbers and on the feed. If you discount guys getting fish @ BI, you must diminsh all fish caught in a blitz?

Damn nice fish in my opinion. Congrats.
|
I'd be bragging about this fish even if I found it washed up dead on the beach in the hot July sun!:laugha:
Great fish, boat or sand, period. I hope I get one someday! |
:claps::claps::claps: Great catch there
Gunpowder, congratulate your friend Mark for me :btu: that is a large bass and certainly a trophy , as long as it's not dragged up in a net and it's caught on a rod and reel from shore or boat ,on bait or artifitial, that is impressive in my book. |

Let's make this even more polarizing - he caught it with a Van Staal :rotflmao:
Seriously, I think we are over analyzing this. We are not talking about a situation where some person that had never casted to bass before lands a 60 at their feet by sheer luck. We are talking about someone that used a proven method from a proven platform that was lucky enough to have this fish before him and skilled enough to do something about it. Circumstances are what are put in front of you and what you do with them plus some lady luck. Oooops - work beckons... |
JohnR,
I agree. Well worded. |

My exact thoughts ! Nice Fish ! Weighs the same on any scale ! |
That is an awesome fish.
I would love to catch something like that from the kayak. Actually right now, ANYthing next to the kayak would be good. I lost my mojo when I moved to Mass. |
