I don't see any mention or complaint that the cost of caring for a smoker that has a heart attack or cancer from smoking directly effects all of us through our health care premiums.

I don't have any stats to post, but I do know my son had a serious heart attack and my brother is dying from lung cancer as I write this. My son is just under 50 and my brother is well over 70. The major cause for both being struck down was (according to the doctors reports) smoking.

I see the bills and am amazed at what a visit to a cath lab and hospital care costs. Sure the insurance pays, but we all pay through high healthcare premiums. Cudos to Duval if the added $ cuts down on smokers and lowers my health care premiums.

Just my opinion, and yes my wife and I quit many years ago and I am proud to admit it. :gorez:

1-2 pks a day for 22yrs.Quit 5 1/2yrs ago using Wellbutrin. There ain't nuthing that could ever make me smoke again.Nuthin.

You would think after watching my mother die a slow agonizing death from lung cancer that I would've never taken up smoking but the need to be "cool" outweighed any common sense at the time.
