Nice one Paul, I would have guessed in the 40's.

Same here Paul - I was thinking low 40's. And I was pegging you at about 185...:hihi:

steve 07-05-2008 02:10 PM

Low 40s? I would have guessed 29 to 32 pounds. how many really big fish have any of you acually seen? there is a huge difference between a 40lb bass and a 31lb bass. But congrats, nice fish but not close to a 40 !

fishaholic18 07-05-2008 02:22 PM

yup, nice 1

Slipknot 07-05-2008 02:30 PM

Well dave, not everyone is an expert who has caught and seen many large bass, and only a few were even aware of the size of Piemma. If it had been Flaptail holding that fish , and the angle was better with the fish displayed to show the girth, I would have gotten it within a pound or 2 I bet. But you got to see it in 3 dimensions, HUGE difference there seeing it in person. Hard to tell how long the fish is from that shot. A picture on the computer is completely different than in person and I think you know that. Maybe that was Paul's point of the thread.

JohnR 07-06-2008 04:39 PM

Nice fish Paul

RIJIMMY 07-06-2008 06:15 PM

I would have guessed 40 but since I saw you post on another site that it was in the 30s,,,,I knew better!

Awesome fish and informative post, almost everyone added over ten pounds to the fish!

Squibby17 07-07-2008 09:04 AM

My guess was 38# before scrolling through. Nice fish! Well done :claps:

Raven 07-07-2008 09:23 AM

is it me

or is that fat bass built more like a tuna?

nice bass Paul :claps:

Blitzseeker 07-07-2008 12:36 PM

Not only are they "offf, but they're convinced they're not off."

"Look at the belly on that fish....has to be at least 40!"

It takes catching quite a few fish to be able to get reasonably accurate, and even then knowlegable folks can be off by 15% very frequently.

I had it at 37 pounds before I saw the answer.

steve 07-07-2008 03:58 PM

Nice fish Paul! Photos can be deceiving!

piemma 07-07-2008 04:03 PM

Indeed. This fish amazed me. i really thought, at first, it was high 30s. When I got it in the boat I knew it wasn't but it just looked BIG. I think the real difference was that it had a smallish head, big belly but no shoulders.

zimmy 07-07-2008 04:44 PM

I thought it looked like a forty but had the head of a twenty. I didn't know if it was gonna be high or low, but figured it was deceiving.

hyefisherman2 07-07-2008 05:38 PM

42#

nightfighter 08-05-2008 12:29 PM

Hey, Paul. Are you registered with a tem, or just individually???

piemma 08-06-2008 06:36 AM

Fishing for RISAA this year

Flaptail 08-06-2008 08:36 AM

First off, how tall are you?

Lokks can be decieving, I am 6'6" 260 lbs and when I hold a 30 pounder everyone thinks it's a 15.

On the other hand when Numbskull holds a 30 pounder it looks like a 60. ( shrimp):eek5:

Tough call unlees you have something to gauge it by.

Nice fish non-the -less!

Raven 08-06-2008 09:00 AM

so flaptail?

since you are a very tall and large man...

what percentage bigger BODY would you say

you have over the average fisherman?

20% larger?
