:agree: Bring on the debates. These elections have become all about who has
the best marketing and advertising.

They know the average American is too busy with 2 spouses working and taking care of their families

to really have the time to pay attention to the issues.

The one with the best flash images wins. :spam:

From what I've seen of McCain's speaking ability the past few months, all politics aside, he should be terrified of the debates.

While McCain may have a more conservative background and more experience, Obama has more wit, smarts and charisma.

This could get ugly.

Funny how Diebold isn't evil when their machines tally Democratic victories.

Inability to speak intelligently didn't keep the G.W.B. out of office.
watching those debates with my kids I was sure he wasn't going to get in.
one boy had a school assignment to watch part of the debate and report on it.
he, and his entire class, couldn't believe that anyone would vote for Bush.

Now, four years later, watching McCain with that Crazy grin and laughter --- that has him scared that he is going to be drafted and sent off to die.

he has no faith in the people of this country to make an intelligent choice.
and I can do nothing to ease his mind --- I agree.

I think the more people see of Obama and the circus show the more votes for McCain.

You can have any belief you want but the majority of the polls don't reflect that.

buckman 07-30-2008 03:39 PM

Actually, thats what the current poles indicate. Almost a dead heat now. Obama has lost voters since his overseas show.

Joe 07-30-2008 07:51 PM

Obama needed to make that international trip. If you have a weakness or a hole in your resume as a candidate, you need to address it.
He was wise to make the trip sooner than later. Keep in mind this was a strategic move that he'll spin later to positive effect. This was a case where he really could not win either way in the short term, but in the long term it should play positive.
Any candidate coming off a cycle where he is engaged in development of a weakness for strategic purposes later on, is going to read down. The idea is to address weakness soon enough so it is largely forgotten by the election.

The rest of the industrialized world is favoring Obama by nearly 2-1.

There's nothing to see here. It's all just media bias

I am not a political person, nor am i a racist, but here is my 2 cents
If they say anything bad about him (Obama), they will be called racists. Extreme I know, but that's the PC society we live in these days. The media makes all sorts of fun about Mccain's physical features and whatnot, but God forbid The New Yorker make Obama look like a terrorist. because of his race, he is "untouchable" which makes everything a lot easier for him. If a dem says they dont like his policy's (because they're so far fetched) they may be called a racist, its a simple double standard that the democrats are playing along with.

I am in no way a McCain supporter, or an Obama guy, like I said I am not political, so maybe an unbiased view of the whole situation may help a bit.

my largest concern with McCain is his asian midget porn fettish.. i would never vote for someone who favors asian midgets over sweedish ones.. i mean really.

My post was a tongue in cheek.

I don't think the media is at all shy of attacking Obama because he's black, not in the least.

As for the New Yorker magazine cover, it wasn't a big story because it was crossing the line. Quite frankly I think the objection was a real fear that people were dumb enough to believe it considering the email threads so popular among right-wing blogs on the subject.
