Sorry for your loss redlite! :(

I've had a 1322 since 1996, a 126 1MH since 1997, and a 1204 since 1999. They're all still in one piece, and I've fished them as hard as, or harder than, any other rod I own.
Time bombs? Not in my experience. If you have a bad one it'll break right out of the box. First or second time you fish it. After that? Most of the time people are asking more from it that it can give--it's not a Harnell after all. |
mike, i dont think the 126-1mh could break! :err: also never heard of one breaking.

I actually snared him out of the bubble weed with one hand Wade Boggs style and got him on the hook after a bit of a struggle. Within seconds of hitting the water a 27# fish engulfed him. :fishin:  |

Great rods but they do have a history of breaking more often than many others. I don't think this can be argued. Further, Lamiglass knows this and is very "selective" about issuing any kind of replacement blank.
I like the Gloomis policy...they charge you 50 bucks and you get a tube in the mail the next day with a new rod in it. You then put your busted rod in the tube and send it back prepaid. Deal done. For the lower end, many Tsunimi rods have an over-the-counter replacement policy and I hear shimano is doing this with their new surf rod blanks which they say are nearly unbreakable. Lami they may or may not issue a warranty replacement and good luck trying to convince them it broke while fishing if they deem it wasn't. Further, I think the Arra rods while nice are no longer state of the art tackle. They are decade old technology. A lot has changed in 10 years. I think you will see them phased out. |
talked to cms. they said they will warranty it as they built it and it is less than year old......we'll see how it goes...
|
After walking all the way to the end of Cuddy Island last year and fishing for 20 min mine snapped in the middle of a cast received credit for the blank was a longggggggggg walk back to the club house
|
I built a 1205 for myself and it's the best rod I ever had.I've thrown big pogy chunks with a 3 oz egg and a 1 1/2 oz Butterfish lure with it and it works very well. Sometimes if you stumble and the rod hits a rock it will get nicked and then later on when it is stressed with a fish it can break, and you don't even remember hitting anything with it earlier. Anyways I like mine .

My standard Lamiglas 1321L and 1M graphite blanks can no longer compete with the technical advancements I see in friend Numbskull's rods and blanks. But I have never broken one of these; I still have the first of these I ever bought. They have been stripped down and rewrapped three or four times. I use these blanks spinning and conventional. Finally, the nuance differencees of the rod all disappear under the strain of a 30 pound bass; or, in the case of Numby, when his plug is hung up on another lobster pot in the middle of the night.

Maybe blanks are like cars.Ones built on Monday and Friday are NG..My 1322 looks like Jerry Cheevers mask.Lots of good times like a old friend.I guess it's like crapshoot to see if you get a good one.Could never pull the trigger on the 1205 to fast for me.If I lived at the ditch I might use it on lighter nights.I just like the slower action of the 1322.I always wanted to build a 10'er out of one cutting it in the butt. Then I think it would be very close to my 120 1M..And I don't do it.:tooth:

This is ballbustin major going on here.. It is so good to see.:humpty::hihi: |
Whats the best fiberglass eel blank ? I've seen Redlite and Max getting knocked off the boulders by the surf .. One night Redlite had the surf push his face into a boulder and Max completely lost his rod and reel in the surf until the next morning .. No hype .. I'm not going to compare thier fishing experience to mine . A $35 ferry ride oneway .$40 worth of eels ... walk a few miles ,, then start swimming ,,and crank cows. Would really suc to have the blank blow up 1st cast ... I'd think durabilty would be #1 .. This is an awful lot to ask of any blank .. I watched them 30 minutes and saw both of them get thrown like bubble weed 10 times easy .. you guys should be test pilots.. Lamiglas !!!!!!! If your listening .... Put these guys on your pro team and give them free blanks ..

NIB, backup is lami 1201m also built by cms. in my opinion it does't have the backbone to stop fish like the arra. also it feels uncomfortably "bouncy" when fightin fish

redlite and hardbait, Sorry to hear of your misfortune and thanks everybody for there honest opinions and input. Without your input we could not develop the product we are noted for since 1952 and the Lamiglas XRA series for nearly two decades. We will never give up striving to make the best product we can, building fishing rods with the finest materials available, constructed to exacting standards. Our expectations of every rod are as high as those fishermen who fish with them. With some common sense and careful handling, your rod will last as long as you want it to. Some tips that will help> stay within the line rating, stay within the lure rating, proper angle when playing a fish, transporting your rod, proper storage, clean the blank after fishing, clean guides and reel seat. I am happy to see most of you continue to enjoy the excellent performance they have given you. I will repeat it again, Lamiglas and I will keep working hard developing a top notch product, so you can continue to fish with confidence.

I ended up buyin the blank at M&D's cuse it was gonna be a while bfor cms could get them, so now I have to go back to M&D's to try and get the blank replaced.....then pay cms to rewrap......the aggravating price to pay for impatience......after all the years of dreamin about havin one and then savin the pennies to go through this..........will update on outcome.
|
redlite, I may have a solution for you....I can lend my personal factory Ron Arra XSRA 1205 to you until your new 1205 is ready. Is your 1205 conventional or spinning?
