unless you are going offshore for tuna i wouldn't use a roller tip for anything. i don't suggest it for wire

I see rods with and without a roller. Doesn't the wire take more abuse if it is going around a guide vs a roller ?

As long as your not stressing one section all the time it should be fine. Go without the roller.

The roller-vs-no roller is up to the individual. I have one wire line setup up with a roller tip and another without. I always grab the roller tip setup... You probably should try out both and see which one you prefer.
