God, I used to get .15 ponies of Narry at a local saloon - ah, the good old days! :hihi: Tell ya what though - after a whole summer of drinking draft Narragansetts I almost took down the TP in the head and replaced it with a sponge - whew :hs: Man, that stuff was not kind to your system in the morning... |

Sloeeddie likes to tell me that Chuckm but the new Gansetts don't have that effect, at least no worse than any other beer.... Living in Gansett, I have to keep the fridge stocked with Diet Gansett in the summer. Only beer the wife will drink. That shelf is full of Yuengling black and tan right now The waterhole up the street usually has pints of Gansetts for $2.75... a long way from $0.15 but cheaper than most on the island! FYI gas in gansett; still over 2.00 (2.13 this AM when I gassed the truck) |
My wife and I photographed the wedding of the guy who re-introduced Narragansett at the Clambake Club -
Gotta admit, I haven't yet tried the new version but understand he was able to get info from one of the old brewmasters for authenticity. Ooooops...major thread-jacking here.... Gas was 2.02 at the 7-11 on Memorial just up from Jimmie's Saloon - but it's creeping back up now - there's been a price war between the 7-11 and the Sunoco place on the opposie corner for a while now - so far 7-11 has the lowest on the Island that I know of - |
$1.77 in Saugus,,,,,,,,,,,,,
and i also remember gas at 16cents/gallon in the early 60's, in OK. kinda like fresh fish at the docks in NE. in the late sixties, for 0.25 and a coupon shaped like a quarter that we cut out of the Tulsa Tribune ~~we could see a summertime double matinee. titles like The Invisible Man, The Fly, The Blob, The 50' Tall Woman, Godzilla, King Kong, Dracula, The Werewolf, Frankenstein, Superman, Rin-Tin-Tin, Roy Rogers, Zorro, and The Lone Ranger ~all summer long. all in black and white ~~and we still had to sneak in!! :heybaby: :heybaby: :heybaby: |

doorstep,,,,,,,,doesn't have to go too far post production/refinery, Keeper. how's the redfishin; down yer way?? |
I remember GIQs. The drinking age was 21 in Mass then and we'd get someone to buy a case. I was buying at the packy in Webster Square at 17.
And gas here in VT is still 2 something. I'll have to look tomorrow. |
Ahhhhh...the good old days!
Cheap gas and drinking and driving with impunity :rollem: Hey, we all did it - and some of us were lucky - for a while anyway....:smokin: |
