Great story Sad to hear that the last member of the JH Experience died recently. Mitch Mitchell was a great drummer.
Like RIRockhound said my posts wil go up with this forum.
Hope the little lady is feeling better

A couple I listened to on my commute last night... From a Hendrix tribute 'Stone Free' I dug out of my CD collection...
Skip ahead about 1min on this one...

Thanks tautog01, the missus seems to be a whole lot better today - she's been chasing me all over the house since 6 AM nipping at my heels the whole time - yup, she baaack.... :hihi:

Ya know, I'm glad she is too - the kid scared the hell outta me. All it takes is a good health crisis to put everything in perspective for ya - man...:hs:

Can't believe MM pooped the bed too - that's really a shame. Great drummer -

Anyhow...this one is really not obscure, but one of the all-time great covers - I'll swear Stevie Ray was channeling Jimi on this one.

My favorite version of all along the watchtower. It was D.M. that convinced Hendrix to record the song as they were buddies in England at the time and hanging at the studio.

The king of the SG. This was from 2007 but he has been doing this since the early 70's. Not many faster or louder. When he played the lights in town dimmed.

love this tune by ZZ and it was made for VH to play

Bryan, I cant believe you know that Stone Free album of hendrix covers! I've seen Living Colour 15 times live. My old band was heavily influence by them. I actually got into jazz 15 years ago from Vernon reid.

Just because I'm a left leaning liberal doesn't mean I don't have good taste in music... when I'm not listening to NPR/BBC at work, I have Pandora playing tunes in the background all day. I put LC in one of the posts about bands who should be/have been more popular...

I grew up in a house full of blues, Dead and Rock n Roll, ... that's why I said Tautog01's posts will go up once he found this forum, he pays as much attention to music as blackfishing...

I put this in another thread... ignore the video... the original is one of my favorite tunes, and this is definitely a cover that does it justice!

nice and nice to look at too, not George, not my type

ProfessorM 01-16-2009 05:26 PM

This tune is a Peggy Lee tune that is fantastic if you get the original. The tune is obscure to begin with . This is a fairly decent rendition. Also never mind the video as this is the only tune I can find on u tube. Peggy's is much better
