Yeah, he might have been that, but he had a bunch schemers behind him he choose to ignore.

Obama is very PC oriented, it seems he will say exactly what his audience of the moment wants to hear.

How can the average American not be scared? We don't have an identity. This country, across the board Dems and Repubs, choose to bend over backwards for every minority organization that complains about something. Every controversial conversation is littered with carefully chosen Politically Correct words - because if you aren't Politically Correct, the NAACP, ACLU, Women's Rights Groups, Mexican Lobbyists or some other group with complain.

Even though every international terrorist to attack this country has been of Middle Eastern descent, I'm not supposed to say the Middle Eastern guy on the airplane two rows in front of me concerns me. Even though every other person on the plane is looking at him with a critical eye. Why?? Because that's just not right and may offend someone.

This country's backbone has been replaced by the Mantra of Tolerance. We've turned into a P$@sy country where everything has to be light and fluffy.

If something pisses me off, I'm going to say it and why. I'm not going to refrain from saying "Asians keep anything that bites their hook" just because there are some that will throw back a 6" sea perch or don't keep shorts. I'm not going to stop saying that woman can't drive just because there are some that are professional NASCAR drivers. I'm not going to stop exclaiming that those on Welfare should go get a job, even though there are some people that have extinguished all other options and tried their hardest. I'm certainly not going to argue when a hear someone say "all men are pigs" because there probably isn't a truer statement.

Stereotypes were not pulled out of thin air. They exist because they're true. Most labels are observationally developed, if it didn't happen, they wouldn't exist.

We're a country that refuses to declare a national language for Christ's sake, even though every single minute detail of business in the country is done in English.

I've ranted enough. I'm going to go back to being a crazy, fluffy, "make everyone happy" liberal. I'm much less angry with those topics.

Based on your logic, you voted for Bush, thus you voted for him to invade Iraq, push to deregulate the energy industry, erase unbiased scientific research with regards to Environmental policy, create illogical limitations on stemcell research and plunge this country into the worst debt it has ever seen.

RIJIMMY 04-09-2009 02:06 PM

basically, yes

buckman 04-09-2009 02:57 PM

How about "He" might nominate Carolyn Kennedy as Ambassador to the Vatican. That is real class. An outspoken advocate for abortion for the Vatican. That ought to go over well with the Catholics

JohnnyD 04-09-2009 03:09 PM

Who cares about an ambassador to the Vatican? Why even have one.

It's important enough for Pelosi to rush the Stimulas Bill through, so she could go there!!!

Pelosi is an idiot. I think just about everyone on this forum has recognized that. I'm not sure how you're trying to support your point.

I still stand by what I said. What's the point in complaining about who the Ambassador to the Vatican is?

buckman 04-09-2009 05:42 PM

Because picking a pro abortion Ambassador is divisive. It is indicative of the way the man thinks. Bush had nothing compared to the arrogance of this guy.

Agreed, the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill was very lame. And the Iraq War is/will be 10X the investment pitched to the taxpayers when it's all said and done.

Funny how a Republican couldn't find the VETO pen until the Dems won control of Congress in 2006.

3. I have mixed feelings with Iraq/Afghanistan. We waited too long to hit Afghanistan and could have handled Iraq better.
Agree on both. Our delay in Afghanistan allowed the Taliban to melt into the countryside and mountains. The civilian incompetency and idiological blind faith in Iraq was mindboggeling.

We tipped our hand way too early, giving them almost a month to get rid of any wmd's. Don't say there weren't any, friends of mine gathered up several hundred 40mm rounds loaded with mustard gas or similar nerve agents. I've seen plenty of satellite images of suspect convoys moving across borders to know they
did have em and moved them prior to us attacking.
Saddam having some WMD's wasn't ever the issue. It was that he didn't have meaningful stockpiles of useful weapons, ongoing weapons programs, relationships with terrorists or genuine motive to cause us harm...that was the issue as it was Bush's entire justification for war presented before Congress and the voters.

As for ferriting them across the border...Bull%$%$%$%$.

To date, every investigation by the UN or even Bush's appointed people have turned up nothing more than relics of an old program.

I saw plenty of satellite photos claiming to be WMD equipment, turns out they were all water trucks. Oops...

A well intentioned program that has fallen short of expectations. Perhaps a good argument here to keep the Feds out of our schools.

There are lots of things he made mistakes on, but we should never apologize for being "arrogant" in protecting our country and standing up for America. We seem and are arrogant, because this is the best, strongest and most free country in the world. We shouldn't bow to anyone. If you cross America, it should be known that us arrogant a-holes will kick the living crap out of you.
I still don't understand this entire "apology" flap. I've listened to most every speech on this trip and I never once heard what I'd consider an apology.

To state that our country has behaved in a derisive manner and that's not who we really are isn't an apology, it's a jab Bush and Cheney. I'd wager that a majority of American people believe we indeed did behave in a derisive manner under Bush.

It takes a bigger man to be willing to stand up and say it like it is than just keep in denial that your own shyte doesn't stink a litte.

This has done great harm to our National image, Obama is working to repair that, while at the same time using the opportunity to challenge others to up their own behavior.

As for arrogant, pick up a dictionary :read:

Arrogant: making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights; overbearingly assuming; insolently proud: an arrogant public official.
The neo-con element of the Bush Administration was indeed arrogant. America has a pretty good track record of leading by example, not claiming superiority and using that claim to legitimize your behavior.

You guys appear to think that arrogance is good, and that America is by our right an arrogant country. This logic has caused us more problems than we can count. Perhaps you guys need to pay more attention in church.

No, we're to greedy to give up what we think is important. The liberal PC argument is a sham, it's used by all sides as a defence mechanism.

The New York Times sharply criticized Bill Clinton for a mere inclination of his shoulders towards Japanese Emperor Aikihito in 1994:

It wasn’t a bow, exactly. But Mr. Clinton came close. He inclined his head and shoulders forward, he pressed his hands together. It lasted no longer than a snapshot, but the image on the South Lawn was indelible: an obsequent President, and the Emperor of Japan.

Oprah doctor: 'stem cell debate is dead'

Posted on Apr 9, 2009 | by Michael Foust

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Supporters of alternatives to embryonic stem cell research found a surprising ally recently when medical doctor Mehmet Oz, during an appearance on the "Oprah" television program, played down embryonic research and trumpeted an ethical method.

"The stem cell debate is dead, and I'll tell you why," he told Oprah, guest Michael J. Fox and a nationwide audience.

"Dr. Oz," the director of the cardiovascular institute at Columbia University Medical Center, told Oprah and Fox that embryonic stem cell research is fraught with practical problems. Although he didn't name the procedure, he said he favored -- and he described in detail -- an alternative that researchers refer to as induced pluripotent stem cell research (iPS), which he thinks will produce cures.

Neither embryonic stem cell research nor iPS research has produced any cures. Only iPS research, though, has support from both sides of the debate.

"The problem with embryonic stem cells is that embryonic stem cells come from embryos -- like all of us were made from embryos -- and those cells can become any cell in the body," Oz said on the show, which was first broadcast March 31. "But it's very hard to control them, and so they can become cancer."

In induced pluripotent stem cell research, researchers take a person's own skin cell and reprogram it into embryonic-like stem cells. Human iPS stem cells were first developed in 2007, and major advances have since been made. Embryos are never used in the process.

Significantly, Oz wasn't making his argument from an ethical perspective but from a practical one. Fox, who has Parkinson's disease and was sitting beside Oz, was a major critic of President Bush's stem cell policy, which prohibited federal funds being used on research that destroys embryos. Bush and other pro-lifers favored alternatives, such as the iPS method championed by Oz.

Fox, in fact, during his appearance on the show criticized the "eight years" where "no forward progress" was made. But Oz, without criticizing Fox, said Fox's best hope for a cure was not in embryonic research.

"In the last year, we've made 10 years of advancement" [in iPS research], Oz said. "Think about that. We went places we never thought we would go.

[QUOTE=spence;680648]Agreed, the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill was very lame. .

Spence Alynski...you continually refer to the this clearly forgetting that it was a much smaller alternative to what the Dems. were demanding, despite rediculous the cost, recipients are required to pay something and there is some market competition, the Dems wanted free medicine for all...just imagine the expense to the taxpayers...actually, you don't have to imagine, just look at what they are spending currently...80 days in..only getting started...$$$$$$$

It is very derisive to free people from opression, feed, clothe and bring aid and medicine to victims of natural disaster and violent regimes, fight evil and tyrrany....better that the evil tyrants like us and admire us:rollem:

Is Obama going to church tomorrow? I don't really care if the guy is actually religeous or not but he did give "THE GREATEST" speech in the history of the world on religeon and faith...and he did claim to be a person of deep Muslim....ahhhh...Christian faith(don't blame me, he said that to Stephanopolus and Georgey dutifully corrrected him)....unless I missing something, I don't remember him being to church since the election...we used to see Clinton every Sunday heading into church with the GIANT Bible under his arm...you remember, the one with the pages all cut out and stuffed with HUSTLER Mags.....the ONE...the messiah... seems to have lost his way and can't find time around the workouts and chainsmoking to spend a little time at church?
