So I'm saying 35# for surf and 42# for boat should be our team minimum.

What happened to the "I'm with Numbskull" rhetoric you were spewing ?

Sandbagger or hermaphrodite?

Do you have to subscribe to OTW?

What is the entry fee?

Dream Boat Challenge tournament? or does that vary from tournament to tournament... also would be overlapping a little with the MV derby... just curious.

Yes you can use the same caught fish for all the above tournaments.

Go easy on him, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. The path from eel fisherman to plug fisherman is long and arduous. As an eel fisherman he will first need to be reincarnated as a worm, then pig, then ape, then little league coach, then fly fisherman.....at which point (and much to his wife's relief) his testicles will fall off and, undistracted by earthly needs and rewards, he can proceed to highest and purest level of the angling world, thereafter living out his life as a shining buddah to others less fortunate (except, naturally, for his own children to whom he'll always be an embarrassment). Now both of you go contemplate your navels, your base mumblings distract me and are ruffling my karma. Carry on.

I'm in. shore

Sea Dangles 04-24-2009 02:22 PM

George may have just supplanted the notorious N I B as the third to referee our next outing to the promised pulpit of my choice, plugs notwithstanding.

ProfessorM 04-24-2009 02:51 PM

:hihi:you guys kill me.

I may do the man in the boat again this year, not that it will much matter in the scheme of things.

Joe 04-24-2009 03:12 PM

Not fishing the tournament, but I'm hoping that maybe things will get contentious enough so they'll be interesting fodder for a book that I can sell the movie rights to Dreamworks for 600,000 like that Dave Kinney guy....

wader-dad 04-24-2009 03:23 PM

Yes -Joe is now the official Stirper Cup embedded war correspondent to document all of the action.

Gansett is a sponsor!

I get the Gansett newsletter and I guess they are one of the major sponsors which is cool in my book. I just might try and attend the party. I'd enter my name but I don't want to bring you guys down. Good to see an old sponsor come back!

:cheers2:

If Gansett's in, that must mean Harpoon is out. :(

That means it'll be BMOB if Gansett hosts the end of the tournament awards ceremony.

Gansett :yak6:

angler229 04-26-2009 12:05 PM

I'm in probably just shore but thinking about signing up in both divisions.

Gansett :yak6:

You got it...Gansett is the new Sponsor and it looks like Harpoon is out.

and I agree.....BYOBeer......gansett is what you buy the day before payday when your digging through the Cushions for loose change.

My Grandfather used to drink that all the time.....and he liked it piss warm. :yak:

Supposedly they have improved the taste of the original as well come out with a few new ones. Guess Gansett Fest will be in, well Cranston - Damn, gonna miss my Harpoon but will enjoy short commute.

It's way better now. Mark Hellendrung of EP has done an awesome job bringing the name back and getting a long time local icon back in business. I'm all for bringing local jobs back to RI or the area in general. They did take 3rd in the American Lager division which as the most entries in it at tlast years World Beer Fest. They beat out a lot so called better beers. I still love the Harpoon IPA though. Don't mean to tread on your thread with beer talk. I'll end it there. Thanks.

JohnR 04-27-2009 11:30 AM

Beer talk is cool :cheers2:though probably for another thread :alien:

fishbones 04-27-2009 11:51 AM

I've never signed up for the tourney, but am seriously considering it this year. It will give me a little more motivation to get out there more.

The Narragansett Bock is a great beer, but it's only brewed seasonally.

R.J. Amoroso 04-27-2009 01:56 PM

count me in

I'm not so sure about that--when it first came back, it was advertised as being brewed "according to the original recipe" in upstate NY, not Cranston.

And the sample I tried at RISAA a couple of years ago sure as hell tasted like the SOS.

maddmatt 04-28-2009 08:46 AM

i'm in for the" both "division.

beaver 04-28-2009 10:23 AM

I'm joining for a shot at a VS and truck, and will probably fish both divisions. Would like to fish with S-B if you guys want me. hehe I find myself drinking Gansett a little too often now a days but I don't mind it. Went to a bar the other night and they had Gansett light bottles for 1.50. Don't mind if I do. You get what you pay for though.
