Lone wolf.. I never liked hunting in packs or pairs..

I enjoy fishing on the boat with my dad because even if we're not catching much, we still have a lot of laughs. But like a lot of you, I do a lot of fishing from shore alone because of scheduling, etc... I often decide to go last minute and can't call friends at 10:00pm for a 2 or 3:00am wake up call.

I boat fish and my family is with me 90% of the time, I spend most of my time as mate and pilot.... and to be honest I wouldn't want it any other way.

Alone most of the time. Have a feeling my little daughter will be tagging along as soon as she can.

usually with 1 or 2 buddies. it's always good to have people around to verify the stories. (or keep you honest) always laughs to be had.

plus i don't know why, but i still haven't been able to stay focused while alone at night. i get too creeped out. some spots more than others. on a rock i'm more or less fine. open shoreline. not so much.

hyefisherman2 04-28-2009 10:23 AM

i usually fish alone...unless at the canal i like to fish with a buddy.

bassballer 04-28-2009 10:26 AM

usually with one other person. for saftey and good times. When you release a nice fish its good to have a witness.

JoeBass 04-28-2009 10:33 AM

I prefer fishing with one other guy or 2 if the area is big enough. I do fish alone about 25% of the time.

HESH2 04-28-2009 02:03 PM

always go alone and at spots i fish usually meet up a few guys who fish same area and we fish together from the surf.

Im almost always with a friend. Whether that is my dad or a friend. I enjoy the company before and after fishing. But once im there its all business. Also im a competitive person so its nice to catch more fish too.

I go when I can, I'll go for stretches alone... then stretches w/my surf partner when our schedules align...

Could of voted for all of them, but last year the most times I went it was with a friend.

Alone most of the time for me for similar reasons as stated above:
With a wife, it's not always easy to plan too far ahead so more often than not, I go out randomly at ungodly hours and none of my friends will even pick up the phone at 2 am to fish.
My buddies consider dead-sticking in the middle of a sunny day fishing. They call what I do: lunacy.
That being said, I sometimes meet up with some friends of mine that are serious fishermen and we do our thing. But it's hard to accomplish that due to conflicting schedules and prior arrangements.
As someone said before, it sometimes get scary/creepy/strange at night and knowing you're not alone out there helps ease the tension. Hopefully, this season I can find some more fishing partners.

I always head out alone, but I usually run into another regular at my spot(s). Sometimes by pre-arrangement, sometimes they just show up on their own.

I don't mind fishing with others who know what they're doing. In fact, I prefer fishing with 3-4 guys who know the drill instead of fishing alone, because a yo-yo generally won't try to move in on 4 guys casting in a line, but might on a guy fishing solo.

I'm not at the point---yet---when I worry about my personal safety on the Canal.
