Congratulations Jake:btu: that is what I'd call a super cow:uhuh:
And many Props for releasing her alive :claps::claps::claps::claps: That is what really matters:fishin: |
Cow swam off to fight another day. :)
Awesome job ! :D |
Taking it to them in their house! Wow what a fish. Congratulations.

Check out these numbers: "The IGFA all-tackle world record striped bass! This massive fish was caught at night by Al McReynolds off of the Vermont Avenue jetty in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was fishing during a September 21st 1982 Nor'easter storm. It weighed in at 78-1/2 lbs., was 53" long and its girth was measured at 34 - 1/2"."
Only 53"!! What a girth. Way to go Jake on a great fish and her future offspring (maybe like breeding thoroughbreds, it is in the bloodline). |
Congrats Jake.Somebody buy this guy one of those waterproof cameras damnit.:buds:

Honestly guys, I really don't care what she weighed. I'm confident I got an accurate length measurement with a minimal amount of trauma to the fish. I've measured fish like that before, and I know what she looked like laying on top of me.
Plus... I got to watch her swim away,,, and that's what mattered most to me. It's nice to see most folks appreciate that. :) Thank you! |
The skill to catch it and the character to release it says much about you. And it is all good. Congrats and thanks.
|
great fish and the release was even better
|
wow. please don't tell me Ed wasn't there to witness that cow.

Bigguns
There's more truly big fish out there than folks realize. Numerous WR fish have been caught and released since the last WR was set. These old girls are too wise/too strong/too tough to find to be caught with any regularity, but they are out there.
The guys skilled and dedicated enough to catch these giants generally aren't attention whores who seek the fame, tackle sponsorships, or status a huge fish brings, so you don't hear about these wise old fish being weighed in. These men, like Jake, respect the fish too much to kill them for any reason, although I'm sure they'd weigh them in if they came to gaff dead or too spent to survive. Jake- get a Olympus waterproof camera before that fish and her blue haired friends leave town. With your karma, you may just get another sleigh ride! Then again, maybe the Golden Girls will be at Cutty for me and the boys this weekend? |

She took a dead eel on a wobble head, by the way, if anyone was curious. |
58" very well could be a world record. Most people here dont realize how EXTREMELY rare it is to come across a fish that length. Congrats!
|
Congratulations and thanks for the release. Lottsa Good Karma coming your way for that...
