striperman36 02-07-2010 10:32 PM

Great Game, finally a great game

MarshCappa 02-07-2010 10:46 PM

Classy team! Great win and this is HUGE for that city. How can you not love Drew Breese after that performance and his post game comments. What a class guy. i'm really happy for that team and city! I've always had new Orleans on my city to go to list and this further cements my wanting to take in that city someday. i have to get it on my vacation list. Fsihing, food, culture, what more could you ask for? Good for them! Hats Off! Let the party begin!:buds:

once again I jinxed a team with my prediction,. So glad i was misguided again in my pick. Always go against me. I have proven it many times over the years. Nutin more gratifying seeing that pick 6. Congrats to the Saints, well deserved. I hope I won the pool at work.

Sorry Lawrence but I'll take an elderly WHO over Clapton anyday of the week.

Paul I thought you were better than that! :smash: Townsend can't hold a candle to Clapton's ability! Paul if you thought that was a good performance you might want to clean the sawdust out of your ears!

MarshCappa 02-08-2010 10:16 AM

I thought the half time show was good. Pete Townsend's voice was a little rough but Roger was strong. I don't want to rob this thread but I still think the best half time show ever was U2 when the Pats won their first. Post 9/11, Pats dramitc win, and the half time show was incredible. i watched it on dvd last night just to go back a little bit. Good stuff.

And Clapton can't hold a candle to Townsend's Songwriting ability....Pete is an average guitarist but the songs he wrote were great...

The 2 best musicians in The Who , sadly, are not with us anymore. They did fine last night for 60 something year old men who are old enough to collect. Daltry can't belt them out like he used to but he still sounded good.

BigFish 02-08-2010 11:58 AM

Thats a matter of opinion as Claptons catalogue and body of work runs much deeper than Townends (IMO)...but from what I saw on guitar yesterday....Pete might want to take up the spoons!:rotf2:

ProfessorM 02-08-2010 07:09 PM

LOL. I am in no way saying the Who nowadays are in the ball park of their heyday. I will say this though I 'll take them over some rap crap artist up there anyday.

BigFish 02-08-2010 07:12 PM

Thats for sure Paul! They were fun to watch but its tough to see your hero's growing old. Thats what bothers us most!

seabuggy 02-08-2010 07:25 PM

What a great game!! The rookie coach from the Colts Caldwell gave a classy interview after loosing. Is Pete Townsend from the Who, the same one that was up on some child porn charges? If so, he ranks right up there with Janet Jackson's boob debacle.

ProfessorM 02-08-2010 07:33 PM

was waiting for that tidbit to surface, surprised L. didn't mention that. Yup same person. Ringo's kid was decent on drums. I thought it was Dana Carvey at first.

Charged and cleared, although it's still a stain regardless. I don't think at all he's a child pornographer though...

I thought the set was decent, and the post concert comments even better.

If you want a bunch of old guys who can still rock...go see RUSH :hihi:

Townshend was cautioned by the British police in 2003 as part of Operation Ore. Following a news leak that Townshend was among the subjects of the investigation, he publicly stated that on one occasion he had used a credit card to access a website advertising child pornography. Townshend, who had posted essays on his personal website in 2002 as part of his campaign against the widespread availability of child pornography on the internet, said that he had entered the site for research purposes and had not downloaded any images. A four-month police investigation, including forensic examination of all of his computers, established that Townshend was not in possession of any illegal downloaded images. Instead of pressing charges, the police elected to caution him, stating, "It is not a defence to access these images for research or out of curiosity." In a statement issued by his lawyer, Townshend said, "I accept that I was wrong to access this site, and that by doing so, I broke the law, and I have accepted the caution that the police have given me."

In light of the fact that we all most likely recieve some questionable crap in the emails thanks to our "friends".. I highly doubt any of our PC hard drives would pass a purity test..
To lump Pete into the whacko jacko, or Janet's tit.. category...is one helluva reach if you ask me.

Backbeach Jake 02-08-2010 08:24 PM

I buy his research alibi. His music speaks of a horrendous childhood.
