Did you ever get the 200 hpdi back from Mike?

No Doubt they ride good, dont see many around out there... All of us Mono Hull owners joke about their looks! Yes fish dont care... I just talked to Mike the other day, how do you know him? He still has the motor...Im sure he'll tell you about some of the runs made in the 21... Him holding on for life in an 80 mile run up the chesapeke in 30 knot wind against tide! Hes got the Tuna Bug bad...It is apples to oranges.... FYI, I bought my 21 Contender brand new boat motor, trailer for 34K, sold it for 20K 7 years later with a repower that costed me 10K... I went down to NC with my buddy Rocco who bought a Brand new 2009 21 Contender,Boat motor trailer for 30K even, just had a 200 Opti on it... Lots of deals out there if you know where to look... What the new 25 world Cat go for???

keeperreaper 03-31-2010 06:10 PM

Mike is a good friend and lives about a mile from me. Yes lots of deals out there especially down south. 34k + 10 k for repower 7 years ago would have put you in the "ugly" boat no problem. With canyon range.........

Mike is a Tuna Junkie now!

The point is, my buddy bought a brand new one cheaper by about 12 percent 7 years later, more deals now. We all have to repower eventually or by something different. On a new 25 cat I would imagine 25-30 k just on motors and controls. If I ever start fishing the canyons I'm hoping it would be on a much bigger boat than I have now!

Mike let me take a look, I thought yamaha stopped making a 150 hpdi, and only make a 200 hpdi... Everyone I know has been going to the 4s... Have a few friends with f150's and they are sweet but yeah, 30 percent more cost... I went with twin f250' s on the new rig, twin 200 hpdi would of been a big savings but I wanted 4s... Better resale and I wanted max horsepower get good cruise mpg...

mine is a 2003 150EFI ;;

yamalube locally is insane / but that penzoil prices are VG ... I just want to get what I need ......... I don,t but cheap s %^&* but I have no idea if that top of the line synthic is over kill .

If I live to buy another motor / I may stay with a two stroke .......... 4,s a re quiet, great on gas / but if you don,t baby them ..wash out .they tend to have issues with the heads .
Plus they are heavy & I like the jump I get coming out of the whole .
I have the 16' tin rig with a 2009 Merc. 30hp 4s .. for low, troll slow & quiet

thanks mike

He has a PhD in striped bass too but he's pushng 60 and has slowed down a lot.We have a lot of experience but might be lacking in motivation. Then we have RayJ who refuses to weigh anything under 50.Oh well,we can just fish and have fun.Hopefully you can do better from shore than just Krispy....

Mike actually misunderstood the question... Talking about 2s oil... You don't have to get the full synthetic that's way $$$. I have to look in there but there are two types of semisynthetics that were great... Yamalube went up way to much over the years, it's a semisynthetic...

Kenny-

remember the stories I told you about excursions made with Gary....basically why I decided to get my 21 Contender......and then some of the stuff in Vineyard/ Buzzards....

although my 21 Alcar was in stuff where I once was the only trailer at Padanaram.....thats another story though...Trapper will vouch for that trip.

CowHunter 03-31-2010 09:31 PM

The XLF formula should be fine...

I'm counting on Krispy! We actually do have a few more surf rats this year.... It's important to have a well balanced team that covers more than one state. Never know what will happen with the migrational patterns... Heard you guys picked up some surf guys too!

JMAC

I bet ya happy as S #$%^&* you retired from that job ...with the happenings of the last few days ;;;;:jump1:

Clammer 03-31-2010 10:32 PM

thanks/I,ll order some now ><><><

jmac 03-31-2010 10:45 PM

yeah, I talked to a guy from the Town-he said plant was functioning but there was more flow coming in than what plant had been designed for.....untreated sewerage was literally overflowing the tanks and running down the street into the cove...there really isn't anything that can be done at this point with the 3 plants on the Pawtuxet. All in all, my understanding is that 8 plants in the state were bypassing.... I'm hoping that all will be well by the time fish start comin in.
But then mike, U remember the 70's ....didn't know what kind of fish U had till U gaffed it...water was that bad back then. And all the pogies and bass U could ever wish for....and THAT water was REAL DIRTY up river....

So maybe all the nutrients that will be borne by this dilemma will sustain the food chain in ways that defy imagination...or i'm just "waxing poetic"......

Clammer 04-01-2010 12:06 AM

ahhh ha ha ha ... that's a great choice of words...

maybe there will be an Algae bloom sooner than later

is she floatin and runnin yet??

Krispy 04-01-2010 09:11 PM

Touche, but still more satisfying than being Rob Taylors waterboy

JohnR 04-02-2010 07:22 AM

Krispy - switch to Team S-B where your efforts of surf will be greatly apprecaited

Sea Dangles 04-02-2010 07:37 AM

I guess you're happy being the pivot man for Toby and Redlite. That's why you were born with two hands,so you can satisfy two at the same time.

Sale on bagbalm,redlight special.

Krispy 04-02-2010 08:31 AM

Heres a tip, dont type your insecurities on the net. I wasnt questioning your sexuality or your manhood.
Just saying, even though the 3rd string kicker gets a ring, he didnt help win the game. Dont overextend yourself this year for nothing, let the big boys on Team Striper win the Cup, and you can kick back in your new Parker and fluke fish :uhuh: They'll still let you hold the Cup :)

Sea Dangles 04-03-2010 06:39 PM

This 3rd string kicker has had fish on the board in the 40's for team striper for 4 years running.Won the Red Top canal tournament, free VS.Another free VS for angler of the month 2 years ago.Just lucky I guess.BTW haddock fishing was outstanding today, got lucky again.Nice job on your Cutty talk at Rivers End,I heard it was great.

Goose 04-04-2010 01:03 AM

I never did like Kens 21, the thing reeeked.

Karl F 04-05-2010 08:31 AM

Who has the newish Black Toyo Tundra local plates, with the new contender with FLA plates on the trailer that I passed at warp 8 on 195 yesterday?
... I merely glanced over, to scope the boat out..but the driver of the Toyo was eyeballing me pretty good and smiling...like I should know him or something?

Had one of them fugly new Toyo FJ's ..yellow..shagging his rear, like they was travelling together

Clammer 04-05-2010 09:21 AM

JR

i saw that contender yesterday / real nice looking rig ;;

I,d go home another way if I was you ...I,d hate to see that evryday day in someone elses driveway <>><><><><

Striper cup sponsorship???

What exactly would a sponsor get out of sponsoring a contestant?
