Sort of a couple of weeks ago. Took him on the skiff and 5 minutes in while I was getting the gear ready I hear SPLASH at the dock. He tried to walk onto a paddle boat and slipped. He still young and lacks the common sense. We did get on the skiff and then the motor crapped out and he wasn't liking me pulling the cord to much. Long story short his first fishing trip wasn't a good one. I'm thinking of bringing him out on my buddy's 21' mako this weekend. One way or the other he'll learn to like the boat. he loves the beach and I should probably take him there at night sometime this fall. |

geezus, get out the wagons!!
Nice Mastiffs. Gentle Dogs, but destroy furniture, it's like Sumo Wrestlers at IKEA!! |
They are like domesticated cows. Eat, sleep, go out for a while, sleep some more and then call it a night and sleep some more.
Surprisingly they are good watch dogs. |
I did the show circuit for a professor in College, as a summer gig, I agree very hard to get them worked up. However, barking at trees at 0300 was not a nice thing.

Great Thread. Love to see the dogs. That Choc. Lab Sammy is a beauty. Love the eel bucket shot.
My Mastiffs are not that busy so they don't eat as much as you would think. I did have to go out and get a nice big leather sectional with a chase on one end so that my wife and I could join them on the couch. Keep the pictures coming! |

My Lab - Hudson
2 Attachment(s)
Here is a couple shots of Hudson. He is 3 now and great with our kids and around the house. A big Lab at around 95lb, all muscle. He is a linebacker for sure. Very good marking skills, but hates to wait for his turn for a bird. After he turned one year old I stopped formally training (AKC Hunt test, Field Trails) him as my first son arrived and that pretty much took over my free time. First shot is from his first Hunt test in Simsbury CT and second is this spring out on the deck. This was my first dog and its a lot of work, whether or not you train for an event. We plan to do some hunting this year, upland and waterfowl but overall we just chill. I cant say enough how great he is and much a part of the family he has become.
